Me and the Old Man went to plant some food plots today. It was HOT and DRY! I swear we need some rain. Didn't even put any seed out because it was so dry. Anyway, I like to plant a mix on my plot(clover, rye, peas, etc.) Deer love it!!! Anyone else getting ready for deer season?

Yeh, me and my brothers got out all the ladder stands this weekend and we are going next weekend to our lease in Greene County to hang stands and attempt to make a couple of plots but, like you said it is so darn dry it may not do any good.:smt086

Well, it's usually dry during the first half of September. I'm hoping for some rain towards the end of the month.

We've put out dove wheat, hoping some of it will come up for the deer. We also plan to plant food plots towards the end of Sept., early October, for deer. Again, we'll probably plant some more dovewheat, millet, and some winter peas. Maybe a little rye and clover thrown in for good measure. We've also to place a couple of shooting houses over the field to cover all the angles. It's getting close!!!!!

Got my seed in the ground today. Here's a story for you guys. After finishing my planting I was getting some stuff off the tractor. I stepped up on the tractor and as I was getting off I stepped in a hole and "POW"!!! If there are some of you who have never sprained an ankle to the point where it actually pops let me tell you this. The pain that comes with it is terrible. Here I was a 220lb man rolling around on the ground begging God to stop the pain. I'm sure that some would find this sight funny but not me. It really hurts. Now I'm just sitting here with ice on it dreading how bad it's going to hurt tomorrow. I swear I must really love deer hunting. :ms:
