I was cruisin' down hwy 42 on the other side of Sumrall yesterday when I spotted my ole' V20 Wellcraft. The thing looked as good as the day I purchased it and became the 3rd owner back in 2002. I traveled all the way to the other side of Tallahassee, FL to pick it up at a price of 7500 bucks.
Well, the fella was hookin' up to it and I just had to stop and give him the history of the boat. It is an 86 model with a 1997 150 Johnson Oceanrunner on it. When I bought it it had about 600 hours on the motor and when I sold it it almost had 800 hours on it. I spent many a night out at the isles on that sucker. I would sleep up in the little cuddy and my brother and our other fishin' buddy would camp up on the beach.
That boat road so well in choppy water. I got caught in some 8 fter's one day when a little front came through and it started howlin' out there. the seas were coming from the South and the front swang down from the North East. We were fishin' the triple rig and were actually doin' pretty well on the Mangroves when I saw the white caps comin'. That front confused the water big time. Tide was goin' out and the seas were then coming from the East Northeast and the South East. It was a helluva time making' it back through the pass. We speared one roller and I think I seen a mullet swim across in front of the windshield:ohnoes:. The ole' bilge pump in that thing ran for 30 minutes non-stop that day. I'll never forget the ice chest knockin' me off my feet when we caught one over the back. My little bro' just laughed at me.....I kicked his ass when we made it to safe harbor on Sand Island. I picked him up and threw his butt off the boat about 50 yds from the shore and made him swim, the little prick.
Anyways, the boat is for sale at a good price 5k. It still looks practically brand new. Here is an old pic from the back of the V20.
