Now I am NOT makin' fun of this Ranger, but however I had to post this link (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070911/NEWS01/70911005) to the HA because of the interesting comment at the bottom of the article.
I hope this fella' recovers from this incident. It sounds pretty serious.

:smt103 OUCH! don't you know that hurt like a son of a gun! It will probably be a long time before he lives that one down! Seriously though, I do hope he doesn't have to have the leg amputated...what a bummer! Prayers are going out to him and his family.

A bit that far up on the thigh is a bad one. The problem is how
much venom was injected. The flesh around the envenomation site will go necrotic, the more venom the more dead flesh, and since he was bit in the thigh he could lose the leg above the knee. A lot of people think that they can just give him some antivenin & alls well, but it doesn't work like that. The Dr.s will usually wait to see if he'll be okay without the antivenin because it can cause other complications that can be worse than the bite.
I got bit back in '82, but got lucky, not much venom was injected, and it just rotted out a spot on my calf about the size of a quarter. You hardly see the scar now.
Prayers & sympathy goes out to the ranger.

Damn!! Snake bit and shot. That ain't good.:(
Probably a rattlesnake. They usually get'cha above the knee. Cotton Mouth'll usually get'cha below the knee or on the hand or forearm.

Here is the complete update...notice he has had 22 pints of blood so far! That is 3 times what the body usually holds....it is a miracle he is even alive. Now other complications....NOT GOOD! We need to add this man to our prayer list for sure!

O.K.....The sun Herald has the whole story here. (http://www.sunherald.com/201/story/172913.html)
A huge poisonous snake bit Dale Cupp. Bite marks prove it, but he doesn't remember how it happened. He also doesn't recall the angry wasps and misfired shotgun that blew out his knee and likely saved his life.
Ya'll need to read this. Shootin' himself likely saved his life. This is wild!
If you are wonderin'....He's gonna' be alright.

So do we need to buy him some ammo? Is that what you are saying?
