That the Hattiesburg City Council is going to do about the vote on a New Police Chief? Im hoping that they will say NO to Bolton and just let the acting Chief stay there until its time for a New Election for Mayor. Looks like he is doing a good job, why change things now.:smt001

I think Misenhelter is doing a great job so far, but says he doesn't want the chief job permanently. I think the council should talk him in to putting his name up. Bolton may be good, but I think Hattiesburg should have someone who is familiar with the city and the personnel who already work @ HPD.

I have personally be told by two councilmen that they are in no hurry to find a replacement. They both told me they want to be darn sure that the replacement was better than Wynn...NO ifs, ands or buts! I was told that the candidates would be checked up, down, round and round and over again as long as it takes! I hope they stick to their guns on this. I really think they will.
While I don't particularly like Misenhelter he is doing a better job than Wynn ever thought of doing. If he can continue to make a positive difference let things ride. I mean after all, if the Mayor can let Wynn ride with the way he interpets the law, why can't the council let things ride and just leave Misenhelter sitting in the job without replacing him. Two can play the "games"...the council as well as the Mayor. Let Dr-Mayor Dupree do some "wait and see" for awhile, as the council and tax paying citizens have had to do the past few years!

I am glad of the progress this new acting chief has made. Officers coming back, drug bust and so on...
Woo hoo HPD!

I will tell you people I know such as friends, family, kids, were getting scared to go into H'burg especially at night. That's a shame that H'burg was getting talked about like that. "Scared to go there at night" was what we use to say about Jackson or New Orleans not our H'burg.

I ran into a HPD officer at Walmart this morning, he said things are running good at this time. He told me that he used to have only 6-7 officer on his shift to patrol the whole city, but now he has 14. That is due to officer's coming back to work.
Way to go to all of you.
I believe dupree will push the issue of Bolton. Since he has been in office he has tried to fix all that wasn't broke and broke what was fixed. As the old saying goes-if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Hattiesburg seems to be running to smooth lately-so-dupree will do his best to unsmooth things. Wanna Bet?
