Looks like this one may be the first this season to really affect us. May bring some much needed rain and cooler temps.

...HURRICANE HUMBERTO TO BRING HEAVY RAIN AND ISOLATED TORNADOES TO NORTHEASTERN LOUISIANA AND PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI LATER TODAY AND INTO FRIDAY...

RECENTLY UPGRADED HURRICANE HUMBERTO CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN AND APPROACH THE NORTHEAST TEXAS COAST. HUMBERTO IS EXPECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL JUST TO THE WEST OF THE SABINE PASS(LOUISIANA...TEXAS BORDER) DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS AND THEN CONTINUE TO SLOWLY MOVE TO THE NORTHEAST. HUMBERTO SHOULD MOVE INTO NORTHEASTERN LOUISIANA BY THURSDAY EVENING AND THEN THE REMNANTS OF HUMBERTO WILL BEGIN TO TAKE A TRACK MORE TO THE EAST INTO CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI.

THE MAIN CONCERNS FROM THIS HURRICANE WILL BE HEAVY RAIN AND POSSIBLY ISOLATED TORNADOES. RAIN FALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE MAINLY ALONG AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM BASTROP...LOUISIANA TO YAZOO CITY TO MERIDIAN...MISSISSIPPI. RAIN WILL LIKELY PICKUP LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND PERSIST THROUGH A GOOD PORTION OF TONIGHT AND INTO FRIDAY. HEAVY RAIN WILL LIKELY CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY AND INTO FRIDAY NIGHT ALONG AND SOUTH OF I 20.

AS FOR TORNADOES...THEY ARE ALWAYS POSSIBLE WITH LANDFALLING TROPICAL SYSTEMS ESPECIALLY TO THE RIGHT OF THE CIRCULATION CENTER. THIS SECTION OF HUMBERTO WILL AFFECT A GOOD BIT OF NORTHEASTERN LOUISIANA ALONG WITH SOUTHWESTERN AND PORTIONS OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI. LOOK FOR THE TORNADIC RISK TO BEGIN TO INCREASE IN THE LATE AFTERNOON HOURS AND THROUGH MUCH OF TONIGHT.

FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONCERNING HURRICANE HUMBERTO PLEASE REFER TO THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER. AS FOR THE HEAVY RAIN AND TORNADO POTENTIAL PLEASE REFER TO THE HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK(JANHWOJAN).

No Rain here yet in Sumrall!

Hell yeah, and the people here in the Greater New Orleans area are waken' up this morning saying the same thing, WTF?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!? Now my boss wants me to drive to Baton Rouge for today and tomorrow, he doesn't understand that bad weather brings out all the dumbass drivers..........................wait..........may be that's why he WANTS me to drive to Baton Rouge............that motherf....., I'm gonna kick his ass when I see him again........

I'm really surprised at how fast this thing strengthened. If a storm can go from depression to Category 1 Hurricane in a day, then what's to stop the same storm going to Cat 3 or 4 in two days. People would not have enough time to evacuate.

we need the rain.

I hope it fills the hell out of the rivers....We need to get some sediment washed downstream in a few places. Makes it tough on the whaler to navigate sometimes...anyway, my pond is low too. Bring on the rain. It's time I kicked it on the front porch in the rockin' chair and just watch it rain for the sake of watchin' it rain....Rain drops fallin' on my head........Tom Jones....(I think that's his name)

It doesn't appear that this is going to discipate at all. The radar shows it still churning over land. We are under flash flood watches. Just remember that famous saying... "Turn around, don't drown." :-D

Hurricanes have holes in the middle of them like bagels and donuts, you just can't eat them.

That's what I was thinking when I first saw it on radar yesterday. Very, very alarming. I stopped at the store this morning to top off my supplies, with the idea of always being prepared. We were running low on kitty rations, can't have that!

Dit..dit..dit...dit...dit.doo..doo.doo..(that's supposed to be that newsline sound, play along for a minute).........Report on Humberto, Baton Rouge.................MHLF Public Advisory #1..........attention.....attention......

I'm reporting live from Baton Rouge, it's raining, ain't seen no wind to speak of, just rain, and a lot of it. And yes, the rain has brought the idiots out onto the road. I'm sitting in a parking lot off of Oneal LN, locked into somebody's wifi. I ate lunch at Waffle House, it's dry in there. Wet outside. Lot's of rain. The MHLF strongly advises everyone in the pinebelt to go play in the rain with your kids, but be careful. That is all. Next report will be later this afternoon. Dit..dit...dit...doo..doo.doo.........

I can't get it to post but I was looking at Weatherunderground and some of the tracking appears to show that Humberto "may" go lower to the south and wrap back out into the Gulf....THAT would not be a good thang! That sucker could intensify and come back at us! Everyone needs to keep their eyes and ears open that is for sure!

We need the rains but we DON'T need to flood!

The ditch in front of my house needs cleaning out... we need a good gully washer... haven't had one of those in months on this end of Petal.

That's what I was just thinking, no thunderstorms, and not really much rain. The weather gurus was reporting rain all day today, tonight, and tomorrow.

If you'll recall, Rita did the same thing: landfall in Lake Charles, and all the rain went above Hattiesburg.
