There's already a thread about this, but most of us are open to new suggestions!! You sound well prepared -- can I come over? With my mom and two cats?

Edit: Petal, you and I think a lot alike!

I got two of those blue, inflatable pools from Walmart that I can fill up with water, so that will be about 10,000 gallons. I've got the travel trailer with two propane tanks, so I can cook and take a warm shower. It also has a 40 gallon freshwater tank. I've got an 8000 watt generator. I've got about 100 gallons of gas tanks to fill. I've got a freezer and fridge full of food. I've got my Bible. I've got my family. I've a got a shotgun, a rifle, and a 4-wheel drive, a country boy can survive.

You sound ready bpitt! might want to consider getting you some empty 55 gallon drums. I figure I'm self sustaining for a family of 5 for 14 days.

Petal and Hermione, during Katrina I had a family of 4 and two dogs from Slidell with us and a Mother in Law just too keep things interesting........Hoping in the future not to be so crowded.

I also have guns & ammo, so whatever I need I can steal from my neighbors.

Have you looked into the "mini" rounds? 12ga shells that have no packing, they're only half as long as regular rounds so you can get twice as many in the magazine. They're only good for short range, but for home defense they work.
Me, I got a customized 1911 with a 15 rnd stick mag.

The MS family is prepared with generator, gas, food, water, etc. I'm supposed to bring the case of wine I have stashed under the kitchen counter. And enough food for the puppy.

I think I can handle that.

I also have a credit card and cash to head to Atlanta if that's what I so desire.

I plan to send the wife and kiddos North, and let them come back the day after the storm. I'll ride it out, but I don't want to be as worried as I was for my family.

I would like to say that I'm proud of MS....We didn't seem to have near the looting problems that LA had after Katrina...Was it because so many of us had loaded guns around or was it because we're just "not like that"?

Cash is King after a storm and no credit cards are accepted.

I got a kick ass water filter, so I can drink from Walls Creek if need be. Our house is built into the hillside, so the bottom floor is an instant 'bomb shelter'. I've got deer and squirrel in the backyard, and coons and possums at night. The in-laws are 1.24 miles down the road with 2 stocked ponds, bass and bream. We've a 2 acre garden planted there, as well as they have a 5th wheel that is stocked, and 3 freezers full of corn, okra, beans, and peas. I've got a chainsaw, paw-in-law has 2.
