Her children and grandchilden have no use for these items? I hope the proceeds of this sale are going to charity, otherwise, this makes her family look really tacky.

Mrs. Fordice was originally from Jackson before moving to Memphis with her family. It was there she met her husband, Kirk Fordice. They eventually would settle back in Vicksburg.
The estate sale is only in Columbia because it is being handled by Columbia Auction Company.

Wow. I think I'll have to make plans to go to this. Columbia Auction Company also has auctions on Thursdays at 6:00. They generally have some really neat stuff.

I recognize some Gail Pittman pottery there. Her studio is in Jackson. But nothing is labeled, I wonder if they'll put the auction catalog on line & accept phone bids?

I can't believe her family is getting rid of some of the silver and the crystal..I would LOVE to be able to buy some of it. I have alot of silver serving pieces and crystal...would love to have much more...although I don't entertain that much anymore except for bbq's...I love looking at it and actually enjoy polishing the silver...IF only I had room to put some more "things" and some spare $$$.. :(

I went to the Pat Fordice auction Sunday. I think I need to go to Auction Attendees Anonymous. I got competitive over stupid items!
There was so much stuff -- it wasn't over until 10 p.m. And they still had not sold everything. There were lots of people in the afternoon.
Sorry I missed this. I think I would have bought some of the pieces just because they were hers.

I saw that they had the auction on the news. I would have loved to have gone just to see some of the things she had. I know I couldn't afford them but it would be nice to see them.

Judge, do you know if the proceeds were being donated to charity? I'm thinking her family would not publicly auctione her items otherwise.

BDD, I never heard any of the auction personnel state what the family was doing with the proceeds. I don't have any idea whether they are going to charity. No members of her family were present that I know of. There was a crowd from Jackson, many antique dealers, etc.
I can tell you that even though there were truckloads of items, I can think of many many personal items and furniture that were not in the auction. I have the impression that her family took the items that they wanted or were sentimental to them, etc.
I can now say that I have Pat Fordice's crystal punchbowl!! My mother and her sisters are very impressed.
Did you hear that the Jaguar went for $44,000? Which is actually it's retail value . . .
