Hey, everybody!

I just wanted to let everyone know that the bicycle ride through downtown will now begin at 10 am! That's right! No more, "It's too early" excuses not to get the bike off the garage hooks, air up the tires, and come enjoy some nice almost fall weather in downtown Hattiesburg!

The route can be found here:
http://www.sanoodi.com/route/conveyor-belt/58847/the-avenue-s-hattiesburg/

The ride lasts about an hour. The average speed is about 10-12mph. No one will get left behind. The temp should be around 83 degrees when the ride is complete.

So come out and enjoy the ride this week!

Next week we'll be riding the Hattiesburg to Petal and the EGP ride, which is a fun 16 mile ride through mostly flat terrain. Everyone who's ridden that ride loves it. Fun, fellowship with new people, and good exercise on a Saturday morning!

Hope to see some of you then!

I have to give a special thanks to those who have made it to some of the previous rides at 7am. That takes a bit of dedication to get up that early on a Saturday morning. I usually get home from work on Saturday morning at 3 or 4 am, and then get up at 6am to start the ride at 7am. Some of the rides, I don't even remember. LOL!

But thanks to you all! I hope the new time is alright to get used to!

the bicycle ride through downtown will now begin at 10 am!

Now that's a time more suited to this nightshift worker. :D Of course, I'd have to scrounge up a bicycle if I'm going to try this out....

I've got a few extra. Just let me know and I'll throw them on my car for the ride.

so will this be a bagels BEFORE or bagels AFTER deal?

I donno... I'm fully expecting to be rained on. Doesn't bother me, and I'll show up, and if someone else shows, I'll ride. If no one shows in the rain, I'll just go home; I've got an immunology and serology test to study for, anyhow.

I think we'll make it a bagels after deal this week, and perhaps a bagels before deal next week. Next week, it'll be bagels at 9am, ride at 10am... sounds good to me!

Having the ride at 10am opens the possibilities of all sorts of downtown before/after ride treats. After burning about 1000 calories, which is about what I burn on an hour ride, I can easily indulge in some Side Door, or some bagels.

Radar looks like it's going to be clear for the ride!

Anyone who's coming, see you in a 1/2 hour!

I'm bringing an extra bike, just in case someone wants to come who doesn't have one.

Damn radar isn't showing the rain that's falling...

Anyhow, since NO ONE showed up, I'm going to try to do this tomorrow. So, tomorrow at 10 am we will start the ride. I'll bring the extra bike again. C'mon down and enjoy a nice ride on Sunday morning.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the loaner bike, CB. I really enjoyed the ride this morning - seeing familiar parts of town from a different perspective. Of course, we'll see how well my enjoyment lasts when I'm walking all over campus tomorrow. :smt001

One...

It was sad to me that no one showed, but it's was a spur of the moment thing, and I'm going to blame church for it. I'm going to see how many show for next week's Saturday 10 am ride before making a call about the new time.

This sounds like something that I would love to do....if no more than an hour and averaging 10-12 mph. I had pretty major surgery about 4 months ago and still don't have endurance and way out of shape to begin with, but that's why I need to do this. It just seems that I'm always busy doing something on Saturday. I would have to air up the tires on my bicycle since it hasn't been ridden in a few years.

Okay, we're going to try this again!

New time! 10 am at the train depot in downtown hattiesburg! A one hour ridet through Downtown and the Avenues. We can all hit a downtown eatery afterward if you'd like, but it's all dutch treat. I'm a poor, poor boy now.

Hope to see some new faces this week!

It's at St. John's Lutheran on Hardy St. It's around the 20th Ave block. I'm not sure what the plates cost, but it's totally worth it.
