Copper thief caught?

I heard a firefighter from sunrise was coming into Hattiesburg and saw smoke underneath a bridge and thought there was a fire. He supposeably called it in and it ended up being someone who was burning the insulation off of cable to get to the copper . Anyone feel free to elaborate on if this person was on the clock for a particular company-or whatever. Did this person lose his job and an investigation going on as to where the cable came from?

I hope that they caught the copper theives XC9!!!! No one in his right mind who owns electrical wire with copper in it is going to burn the insulation off just for the recycle value of the copper! The wire is 100 time more expensive than what the little pukes who steal it ever get for the scrap metal price!! I hope that they did catch them and hang them from that bridge with a piece of the good wire that is left!

Probably the Sims road bridge just off James Street. Alot of illicit activities go on under the bridge there since it is in a more rural area.

Yeah it was under the bridge on Sims Rd. And I was told that the person doing the burning was a City Worker, who was in his city vehicle under the bridge. But I guess that should be in the City Vehilce Abuse Thread.:smt102
