Well folks, me and Jr. took us a little dove huntin' trip out on the farm this past weekend. I toted the ole 1100 12 ga. and Jr. was right beside me with his Daisy Red Rider. We opted to take Sugar (http://www.myhattiesburg.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=12553&pos=0) with us to get her a little spirit back since the move from Forrest to Lamar County (We are finally back in the country!).
We had a decent shoot for our location. It's been awhile since I have put a bead on anything, especially those flyin' critters. We were in a holler' on the bird's flight path, problem was they had ALTITUDE! Man, it's hard to bring one down when they are flyin' high as a radio tower!:smt118
Score was Me and Jr. 4
Doves 100+
I shot a box of shells for' I even skint a feather. We had to really hide in the brush cuz' those birds were very aware of everything (my bright yellow shirt had nothin' to do with it.)
We even got a nice visit from the local Wardens. I can say those are two fine fellers'. They even commented on Jr.'s marksmanship with his Red Rider! Thanks Warden's, I really appreciated the chat and Jr. and me had a good talk about what ya'lls job was. Now he knows he just can't go off and bust a b.b. on everything that flies.
Sugar shook of her cobwebs fairly easily. She tried to eat the first bird, but quickly found out that she wasn't supposed to.......:smt118 I had to help her remember that she was supposed to bring em' to me....
Anyways I am lookin' forward to Duck and Deer season. I wished I had the time to go smoke a few teal this year, but that ain't gonna happen!
Good Luck and be Safe
