I'd say two homicide in 10 months is a pretty good rate...considereing this time last year we had what....10, 11? I'm not sure but it was pretty high. For a city this size, 2 would be considered extremely good

Oh, no doubt that things are MUCH better than they were this time last year...all the way around at the P.D. Since Wynn left things have improved greatly...I just hope it stays that way and we can keep the stats down....I know I see many more police cars all around town now..more than I have seen in four or five years...I just hope the trend for the violence stays low...

People in LE will probably know but this time of year, coming into the holidays is not a good time. Violence tends to increase. More A&B's and unfortunately more homicides as stress increases. People trying to provide for their families during the holidays and stress rules the situation. NOt to hijack your thread Maggie but I just thought of that

This bothers me. I was just down there a couple of days ago. We had eaten at Walnut Circle Grill and were looking at some old homes that family members past had owned. Little poor black children everywhere in the street, playing football, jump roping. Trying to be kids. Trying to be normal.
It is really terribly sad young children and little families full of good people have to live amongst this urban culture of violence, drugs, and evil. To bad, this is what these children must face when they grow up.
Drugs, poverty, and the violent rap-pop culture are a true blight on this nation and a serious obstacle to affording racial and economic equality to the black people.
Wonder if we'll ever do anything.

It is sad BDD. I saw a show once were it is like a cultural thing to not rat out the bad people. I think that may contribute to some of the problem. Not me, I'll throw someone under the bus in a heartbeat if they bring something in my neighborhood that will hurt the children. And now a days folks can call and not give their names. That will help the lawmen weed out the bad folks. Good folks got to stand up and protect their young.
