Here's my stab at the local races:

Forrest County:

Sheriff: Incumbent Billy Mcgee will slaughter Michael Saucier again.

Superintendent of Education: Too close for me to make a prediction. Given the rural make-up of the FCSD, however, may well work to the advantage of Republican Dale Coleman.

Tax Assessor: Republican Leon Perry is putting on a very strong challenge to incumbent Mary Ann Palmer. This could be an upset in the making.

Coroner: Butch Benedict will be re-elected easily.

Supervisor District 1: David Hogan will finally defeat double flip-flopper David Allen.

Supervisor District 2: Charles Marshall will again whip Richard Southern in this heavily Democratic majority BVAP district.

Justice court District 3: Because of the make-up of District 3, I predict David Frank Myers will defeat incumbent Robert Davis.

Contable District 1: Wayne Taylor will be easily re-elected.

Constable District 2: There will be a "No Halo" Victory party.

Constable District 4: Terrell Carson will defeat Mike Seal.

Lamar County:

Tax Assessor: Jim Patterson will win easily over his Democratic challenger, Terry Jarrell.

Coroner: Blake Davis will win easily

Supervisor District 2: This will be closer than expected, but in the end, I believe Marvin Strahan will defeat Ben Winston. The GOP will now hold all five seats on the Lamar County Board of Supervisors.

Supervisor District 3: Joe Bounds will have no problem with the two independent candidates running against him.

Supervisor District 5: Dale Lucas will defeat Ron Phillips and Kevin Davis, winning around sixty percent of the vote.

Constable District 2: Amacker will have no problems with John Howard.

Constable District 3: Danny Edwards will easily defeat Rube Dickinson.

District 2 is heavily Republican, and I believe the voters will recognize your service and hard work during this campaign (as they did in August). Good luck , John!

TDB, I enjoyed reading your predictions and agree with you on all of them; however, I would like to see a couple of them swing the other way.

Would you consider starting a thread on the Attorney General's race? I am particularly interested in the people's view of Al Hopkins. I saw his sign in front of your office. Way to go!

I started a thread yesterday with a poll on the AG's race. Take a look at it, and feel free to comment.

Al Hopkins started to really tick me off when he asked me to contribute to his campaign. If there's a candidate in Mississippi besides JAE, Jr. who doesn't need anyone else's money to run for office, it's Al.

Scipio, as someone who knows (WELL) I wouldn't recommend anyone whether it be you, me, Eaves, Hopkins or H Ross Perot to spend their life savings running for public office if they can avoid it. For one, obviously there is no return in the pay for the public office, but, more importantly, raising money from others sends a message of public support of that candidate to the voting public.

I don't particularly like being bombarded with requests for campaign contributions either, but it is the American way. Hillary Clinton reports her net worth as being between 10 and 50 million; however 88% of her campaign contributions come from individual contributions for a total of $79,644,559. According to the report I saw, she claims no self-financing. She definitely shouldn't be asking for others to finance her campaign, as she could buy Al Hopkins again and again. But, as TDB says "contributions send the message of public support of the candidate".
