I was hoping to find something equally as creative as his first ad, but no.

The sequel is never as good. I do like it, though; especially the marker squeak at the end when his name is crossed out.

That's the reason I'd stay away from sequels. Get the ad wizards together and come up with something new.

I dunno. We're only talking about two commercials here. I would probably stick with promoting the brand image, rather than try to reinvent the wheel.

It helps to know that Delbert is as interesting as a cardboard box. These spots use that to his advantage, as he plays the straight man naturally.

I remember when Delbert ran for Congress in 1998, and he had the "cardboard box" image running against Ronnie Shows, and that image is, in part why I voted first for Dunn Lampton in the first Republican primary and then Phil Davis in the run-off. I agree these ads make him appear much more likable (versus the NE Jackson/Butler Snow tax lawyer that he is professionally).

I agree with TheKing. These are some of the best ads produced in my political memory. The only thing is I wish I'd had more money in my race and thought of it first. The mother of one of my best friends from college and law school never gets my last name right... she always calls me "Weaver" "Seaver" or "Deaver" or "Beaver" (never with an "s"). I could have had similar such fun.

You have to hand it to him, it was a great way to get his name out there!

:clap:I like it! I will remember the name Dilbert when I go to the polls, even if I dont remember his "platform". I dont know about platforms anymore anyway... do they ever do all they claim they will do anyway?

I think the ad is shear genius. It gets his name burned into your brain, but not in a Head On kind of way. It makes him look kind to old ladies, which is a broadspectrum vote getter. It shows patience and persistence. It shows lack of blame.

Personally, I don't know the guy from Adam's house cat, but the spot is great.

And on top of everything, it's mildly entertaining, if not funny the first time you see it. It's one of those things people talk about. Absolute genius.

I wish all political ads were like this. Something light and fluffy, but still getting some points out there. I hate the depressing bass line ads that use a drum beat for each image that's thrown at you and the deep voiced guy telling us what kind of certain doom will ensue should the other guy win. Hate those ads.
