WThings you've seen or heard in the outdoors

Being an avid outdoorsman since I was a little fellow, I have spent many hours hunting and fishing. This has allowed me to see and hear some things that well....they just didn't quite seem right. I wanted to hear some of your stories if you have them. Here's one for you:

One day I was hunting and I found this big yellow pine to rest against for a while. I sat down and was sitting there enjoying the peace and quiet when I heard something walking towards me. The problem is that it was coming from behind me and I couldn't see it. Of course I'm thinking it's a deer and that I need to be still or I'll scare it off. Whatever this thing was it walked right up behind me and stopped. I just sat there for a few minutes and never heard it again. Finally I slowly looked around the tree and.......nothing!!! There was nothing there. No deer, dog, hog nothing. I know that whatever I heard was rather large and that it walked right up behind me within 10ft. of me. I never heard it run or walk away, so where did it go? You talk about being spooked!!!!

When I was little I remember the stories of the panther in the woods near Joe Warren hollow (Sandy Hook). It screaming. I don't remember if I actually heard it or just tales of it. Mother heard it. Uncles heard it. Cousins heard it. My Maw Maw heard it. Of course that hill was haunted also. Once my Maw Maw put the chain on the door and sat back down in her chair to watch TV and something took the chain off as she watched it. Try sleeping over at Maw Maw's after that story got told. "Nooooo! I don't want to go to MAW MAW"S. Maw Maw's house is haunted!"

The little stinker was reallllly hard to spot down amongst the dead leaves.

I saw a friend's sister running down the path in a hay field one time with her pants down around her knees picking the ants off her panties. That was kinda cool. She was built like a dream and had on some cute panties too.

I know this little story should prolly be in the after hours thread, but, I was in a tree stand down in Greene county Thanksgivin' Day.....I had just finished eatin'...it was around two in the evenin'. ..... I heard a truck comin' up the hill of the pipeline I was on......It stopped about 50 yds from me......Two passengers of the opposite sex....You shoulda seen that big C.B. antenna' get the rythem with all that rockin' goin' on in that cab....The show went on for about 1/2 an hour. They musta' have just met or somethin'. :)

Now as far as dealin' with animals I was huntin' back behind the workplace sittin' up in a stand. It was right at dark and you could here a train comin'.....that thing let it's horn loose at the Chevis Lee crossin' and about 10 dam coyotes started howlin'. The were all around me. Scared the bejesums out me. Hell I fired a shot of it scared me so bad. I was prolly 17 maybe 18 years old at the time. Still raises the hair on my neck thinkin' about it.

Shortly after Hurricane Fredrick I was fishing on a pier near the mouth of Graveline Bayou with a few other people. We saw something come floating down the bayou just under the water. It was about 15-20' long & 8-10' wide, it was translucent & looked vaguely like a big sheet of construction plastic, it was a foot or two under the water so you couldn't see it really well, and there was a lot of hurricane debris around, so it didn't strike anyone as unusual. Chris, tried to snag it with his fishing line, but when it looked like he had it ti all of the sudden took off for the sound. It was moving fast too, fast enough to leave a big hump of a wake behind it.
That was the topic of conversation for weeks after that. Everyone had a theory, from a giant albino alligator to a giant squid or a school of shad. My personal theory was that it actually was a piece of construction plastic
and that some largish marine animal was entangled or somehow attached to it & Chris spooked it by flailing at the plastic.
Whatever it was it dang near gave me a heart attack.

when i was about 12-13 i had finally started sittin deer stands by myself. My dad had put me in the old city transit bus turned shoothouse at the edge of what he said would definately have somethin in it that day. Well i sat and i sat and i didn't see a damn thing. Dark was comin and i still had a pretty good imagination and i was just sittin there thinkin, waitin on dad to come pick me up. I started hearin little scratchin noises right above my head on top of teh bus. I knew it wasn't squirrels b/c there were no trees around for 30ft. Anyways this scratchin keep goin on and on and then i heard it up by the front of the bus. I swear to God i thought that bus was haunted and i about shit my pants. I fired off one shot to try and scare whatever it was away. It stopped scratchin for about 5 min then picked right back up. Repeat that 3times. By now its dark 30 and my dad comes pullin up inthe Bronco and immediately pulls out the spotlight to see all these deer i just put down. he starts askin questions and i was so embarrassed to tell him that i was SCARED! He was mightly pissed i was just wastin shots on "squirrels on top of the bus".

The next day 'round lunch we were gonna go run the dogs and the guy who owned the land the bus was on said he went back over there and tore the ceilin out of the bus, up to the bare metal. It was a bunch of RATS.

i still havent' lived down that wasted 4 shots b/ci was scared of Rats.
