Lets start off by saying I have a horrible addiction with cars, and it is currently the reason I have no means of transportation.

Lets start off

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/bigboi69_2006/transam.jpg

This is the trans am, its a 94 v-8 6 speed. It started out its life as a harmless commuter, shortly there after I blew the headgasket and while pulling the heads I thought to myself "why not pull the motor and put a cam in it" . Now it sits undriven for over a month , water in oil.

Here is a pic of the new motor going in it.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/bigboi69_2006/transammotor.jpg

On to the next one, this is my 1992 mitsubishi eclipse gst

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/bigboi69_2006/myprecious.jpg

It started its life out as a peppy 4 cylinder turbo getting good gas mileage. Well I felt it a shame to leave it stock , so bigger turbo it go. Cams, sheet metal intake manifold, chipped eprom ecu and oh so much more. :-D

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/bigboi69_2006/engine.jpg

Then tragedy struck, while at the track the flywheel decided to blow up causing the most beautiful and at the same time most destructive mess (according to the track crew or whatever you call them) glad I didn't have to clean it.

SO on the trailor it went.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/bigboi69_2006/dsmwreck.jpg

Some pics of the destruction

p.s. yes this used to be a tranny.

But fear not, a magic genie told me its getting a nice little engine soon. :smt118

That's cool, pooker. I wish I knew something about cars. I called the police to report a stolen engine once in my 63 volkswagon bug.

Hey Pooker....nice T/A, Ive got a 93 Firebird myself. Ive been thinking about putting a V8 in mine. I know it would be cheaper and easier to just buy a V8 car, but wheres the fun in that? lol If ya ever feel like getting together to talk cars or drink a beer, holler at me. Heres a couple of pictures of my ride. It now has the black 17x9.5 Corvette Z06 wheels on it and I added a Trans Am front bumper cover about 2 months ago. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/2489000-2489999/2489691_32.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/5/web/2489000-2489999/2489691_34.jpg

Nice trans-am, a v-8 swap would be nice but I think your car looks good the way it is. Especially those rims, its definately a sharp car.

Sorry bud it does sound like a good deal but I don't have the money. I will get the word out though.

Oh and welcome my newest member of the family. A 1995 yzf-r 1000 with a little more than 20k on the ticker. I paid 1400 for it , runs like a charm. When I say runs like a charm I mean I almost killed myselg haha.

http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k188/bigboi69_2006/bike1.jpg

When they tell you a 1000 is not a good beginners bike they mean it, I dropped it broke the clutch handle and a blinker. This bike dwarfs me haha but it for sure is fun. I would be riding it right now if I didn't break the clutch handle.

The only thing wrong with the bike is it needs new plastic, I drove to toney alabama today to get it a very long drive but 1400 dollars for a 1000 motorcycle I could not pass up. It also came with a very nice helmet and full tank of gas. :smt023

If you guys do any bike riding let me know I would be interested.

Where are you located, pooker? You in Hattiesburg?

pooker

I am in collins I pass through hattiesburg twice a day , I have no problem driving to go somewhere to get the handle. If you know of anyone it would be much appreciated bpitt :D I already ordered one from hattiesburg cycles but they told me it would be five days.

If someone has one in stock or can weld mine it would be very much appreciated. I go to college in poplarville so I am kind of all over.

You race at Hub City Dragway?

pooker
10-22-2007, 01:45 PM
I go down there when I have a running car the last time I went was about two months ago when my flywheel blew up. I plan on taking the bike up there to see what it will do. I used to go every weekend but now that race season is all but over not so much.

bpitt
10-22-2007, 01:57 PM
Which days you go on? They used to do the 'serious' stuff like on Friday and Saturday nights, Sundays were like grudge matches. They still do it like that?

pooker
10-22-2007, 02:01 PM
Yes friday and sunday are test and tune, normally when they are open on a saturday it is a big race. I normally go on sunday, I am pretty busy throughout the week. I do like to attend the big events, I was at fat tuesday (I had a front row seat for when the racer crashed) ,went to birminghams race track a little while back.

I havn't been to any of the big events in a while because most of them do not suit something I would bring a family to ... a.ka. the last one had rappers, throwing money out of bags and lots of drunk people and yelling. I kind of got out of it, one older guy made me mad and I went to a few more after that but then I kind of fell out. He was on the side lines telling me to get my piece of crap eclipse off the track because it was a 4 cylinder on a TEST & TUNE night. Oh well...

bpitt
10-22-2007, 02:08 PM
Screw 'em, those types. I went a few times, it's been a year or more, but it seemed Friday's and Saturday's were better. Sundays there'd be a lot of 'rapper' types and drunks and cussing and fighting, etc., so I didn't go much on Sundays. I went back when the jet engine big rig was there, it was cool, and LOUD. Anyway, when is the next event? There used to be a website for the dragstrip, don't know if it's still out there.

Its so fun getting into racing though, you guys would enjoy it. My grandparents never wanted me to get some of the cars I get. More over my Grandma my Grandpa loves fast cars. I think its more of a womans instict to protect her children, you just have to talk her into it and tell her how fun it will be. Plus it gives you and your daughters ALOT of quality time to spend together. And who knows you might even win some money every now and again. :smt023

We cruised through Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago in my father-in-laws Chevelle, the ol' 396 pounding hard. Them ol' T/A boys just looked at us, then we lit off the back tires and their jaws dropped! I think the black marks are still on that asphalt, I ain't checked in a while.

So you're part of that group.Naw, not at all...I've only ever met 2 or 3 of the guys that do hang out up there. The first time I ever rolled up there with my little V6 Firebird, this guy comes up to my window, "is this thing fast?"...I'm like, "uh, no"....he walks off. I've tried to talk to a few of the folks there, but never really felt too welcomed. The guys that I went to the track with was just a few other Camaro/Firebird owners that met up one night at the Oak Grove Sonic.

pooker
10-23-2007, 07:01 PM
No I was running to get out of the rain up steps and I guess I twisted it, the thing is, its not the most painful thing I have ever had. So I don't know why I got sick to my stomach and real daizy like I was going to pass out.

I don't think it is sprained or twisted, because, it is swollen in an oval shaped about 4 inches by two inches on my right foot, at the right side of my right foot. If I twisted my ankle I assume my ankle itself would be swollen. I think I just hurt a muscle or something thats there, because it is really puffy. It doesn't hurt to bad though, I can still walk on it, I just can rotate it alot without it hurting.

Sure it is not broke?

pooker
10-23-2007, 07:11 PM
Well I am unsure, I didn't even know it was swollen until I removed my sock this morning, I havn't been to the doctor in years and I am kind of paranoid to go. The last time I went was when I broke my hand, and never wanted to go again after that.

If it doesn't get better in a week or progress's worse I might go, when I broke my hand it swelled similar to this but within seconds and really big with a green and bluish appeal, this one seemed to take overnight to swell like a bruise or welp.

I can feel the bone in my left foot real easily since there is not much meat on feet to begin with, but when I try to press in on the soft squishy part on my right foot that is swollen I can not push down far enough to feel a bone because, its so swoll. But its does not hurt in the least bit for me to push on it when I am trying to feel.

Plus I don't think its broken because if it was wouldn't I feel like bone fragments or something? I don't know kind of confused.

You wouldn't necessarly feel bone fragments. When you break a bone in your foot, the bruising that shows up the next day and spreads up your foot or leg is is where the bone is oozing into the skin. Try ice (or frozen corn or peas) in a baggie and elevate your feet. My sister "turned her ankle", slept with ice on it the first night, woke up the next morning to bruised, swollen, very painful. Went to the ER, had broken not only a bone in her ankle, but also a bone in her leg. After surgery, she had to wear a knee-boot for almost nine months.

Oh my that sounds very painful, so if I put a cold compress on my foot and the swelling goes down can I assume that it is not broken since if the bone was oozing out even ice wouldn't stop the swelling would it? I really nope its not broken.

Hmmm. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but if the Hub City Drag Strip is the one right off 59 at the Eatonville exit, I wish that everyone there would go broke....Sorry, I don't mean to be MEAN, but when I built my house the dragstrip was not in operation, but it opened back up after we moved in. The danged thing has kept me awake on a number of occasions. I don't mind if you enjoy that type of thing, but use mufflers and place sound barriers around the strip to keep from being a nuisance. It's not really fun on a Sunday afternoon when you invite guests over and you have to listen to the noise pollution from the drag strip.

pooker
10-23-2007, 07:51 PM
That must suck its on eatonville road so yes that would be the one. Even if people put mufflers on there cars it would still be load though, I am not sure how they would go about putting sound barriers up though. I feel for ya though, its the only 1/4th mile track around for awhile though. Have any of your neighbors filed a complaint? The owner is probably pretty wealthy I am sure it might not hurt him to try to do something about it .

countrygirl
10-23-2007, 08:03 PM
Folks around have tried everything. I have called the sherrif's department on a couple of occasions...disturbing the peace, ect. Seems you have to go down and file a complaint, ect., ect. I guess it's just that I really try to be nice and don't want to cause problems. I just can't see myself going down to the sherrif's department at midnight filing a complaint that might bring about all kinds of repercussions...There have been plenty of folks that have complained...to no avail. I won't vote for my present supervisor though.

Booshay
10-23-2007, 09:08 PM
It seems that those of us who enjoy cars or racing just can't win. When we decide to street race, put our lives and everyone elses in danger...people complain. (and rightfully so) When we go to a dragstrip to race where it's alot safer, legal, and has saftey guidelines to go by...people still complain. What are we supposed to do? I know the noise can be irritating...but yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrs ago when the track was built there was nothing but woods around there. When you were looking to buy your house, didn't it cross your mind that there was a chance that the track may reopen? If the noise and traffic is too much/too loud...call the track owners: Ralph Abraham and Todd Nace. Racers have no where else close by to race LEGALLY or SAFELY. If the track closes, all that's gonna happen is they'll take it to the streets. This has already been before the county supervisory board before. And if I remember correctly, the board and the track owners came to an agreement about limiting racing hours on the weekends except during major races. Find out what the actual agreement was, and when the track doesn't adhere to it, call your supervisor and the track owners. Thanks.

Edit: While I'm thinking of it, heres the info for one of the manager/owners: Ricky Stanbro, manager 601-270-5293 rstanbro@comcast.net, Todd Nace, owner 601-297-3910 tnace@comcast.net, Ralph Abraham, owner 601-270-3724 rabrahamjr@comcast.net. I hope this somehow helps you in the future.

If ya ever need a motor for the T/A, let me know, a guy I know has a LT1 out of a 96 T/A for sale. I think he wanted $800 for it.

Thanks man thats pretty cheap , the t/a has the motor in it and runs, I just can't get the water out of the oil. Runs good to, I mean good oil pressure and everything. Shifts fine, its just I think I did something really stupid that is causing it to be a pain to get the water out. When the intake manifold was off the car i let it sit out in the rain and about 3-5 quarts of water got in it.

On startup I started the car thinking there was oil in it, (I know stupid) because it looked like it was on the dip stick. Car wasn't building pressure, put oil in it, turned milky white. Still sitting like that, I am to afraid to mess with it because I am sure my deepest fears are gonna come true when I cut the oil filter housin' in half, little shavings and metal. I have just been ignoring it but I am gonna mess with it this weekend and find out whats wrong, if its screwed I'll be sad but atleast I wont be walking by it everyday wondering what if.

Alot of work do go down the drain but oh well, I guess thats how stuff is, now that I think about it after this weekend I might be needin' that lt1.

Well maybe youll get lucky and your motor isnt hurt. If you decide that you either want or need that motor, just holler at me. The guy I'm talking about parts out F-bodies in his spare time. He's got a sweet lookin jade green 3rd gen T/A convertible...he put an LS1 in it, installed a 4th gen interior and big brakes on the front.

* There's a big long ligament that runs across your ankle there; that sounds like you tore it a little bit. It won't go away fast but it will heal if you be kind to it. The first time you really tear it like that is the worst, after that it gets a little "callused" to abuse, lol.

Years ago a bunch of us mixed bike riders used to meet up at WCW Cafe mostly on Friday evenings back then. It's the same first red light that turns right into Turtle Creek Mall, take the next turn to the right and it takes you up into a little strip shopping center with WCW right in the middle of the strip. Good food, no beer but besides having a nice flat parking lot (for bikes) it also had a big wide sidewalk with outdoor tables and chairs. It was good for what we wanted it for which was quiet enough surroundings to carry on conversations and walk and look at what everybody else came up on. And yes there were 4 wheeled vehicles too.
I checked out Chili's with the same flat parking, good food, big glass and a big patio. That would make a good meet place too.

Rock and roll, baby, ain't no noise pollution........that's sweet music you hearing...........just listen to the rumble!

I'm just raggin' y'all, Booshay and pooker, about the guys at Hobby Lobby. I'm more into the 'older' cars. I'm glad, though, to see younger guys (and gals) get into the car scene, even if it's with a damn tuner. Hey, make whatever you got go faster, that's my philosophy.

When I get done with one of my projects, I plan on cruisin' through the Hobby Lobby lot one night when they are there, with a set of cheap tires on, and do one hellacious burnout, I'm talking smoke the whole damn lot up, fog up 98, etc. That'd be hilarious to me......

pooker

Yeah guru I did your trick and the oil looks fine on the dipstick but it is still coming out that consistency, it is much better but still has a mixing appeal to it. I guess I will find out this weekend.

Oh and bpitt just fair warning, if you do the burnout thing alot of people will get mad, thats just what would happen. Last time someone did a burnout while I was there alot of people were getting mad.

Guru
10-24-2007, 12:05 PM
If they get mad enough maybe they can move fast enough to avoid the asphalt that will be slinging through the parking lot.

Surely, you jest. NO gearhead, in his right mind, whether a tuner freak or muscle car man, would get upset over a burnout. Now, the Hobby Lobby folks might not like it, but then again, I've never cared for their likes........

Man, some real *big* talk about those "Hobby Lobby" people....word of advice, don't buy into stereotypes, not everyone who drops by up there is a**hat. I hang out there on occassion, I figure I could be called a "young buck"....but I wouldn't call my cars "import tuners" by any means....92 GMC Typhoon, 87 Buick GN, 99 Trans Am, 70 Mustang Convertible....but yeah, guess I usually do just drive my Accord, it gets a lot better gas mileage ;).....If you wanna do burn outs, in town isn't exactly the best place, cops aren't so hot on that idea....but we can head out of town, I'll bring spare tires and an extra camera.
