Dang it! Another bad hair day!!!:smt086
I had some big outside plans for Monday but if it rains that is just another reason to get to more needed stuff done inside this bachelor house and then go to town for weird coffee on the patio somewhere and a movie.

Cobbler (my big young pooch) doesn't really like thunder, but I'm terrified of it.
It might get progressively worse today, and I hope nobody gets hurt if there are high winds and things, but right now it's just a perfect little overcase drizzly Fall morning.
I knew last night that CB's prediction was going to come true, it was so suddenly warm.
As part of the vacation contingency, if it rains all day I will force myself to do some kind of inside house something-or-other and maybe come to town to run errands or just ride and visit neighbors.
Such a nice change from 105*F, 115* heat index and dry parched soil.

I find myself more frightened now by bad weather (and the anticipation of bad weather) than when I was younger.
Of course, when I was younger we didn't have The Weather Channel or the technological advances available now that allow the weather watchers to keep us informed to such a degree.
I guess back then I didn't know to be frightened. :smt001

Me too. Of course, being in a couple of hurricanes didn't help my weather anxiety.
I really hate to go out my door when it's horrible.

Well, so far, so good...good drizzle of rain, no thunder, lightening or high winds...at least here in the Burg. Looks like it will be a good day for a nap! I got the weather radio on though..."just in case!"

Maggie please let me know if tornada is coming. I don't watch much TV. You know once you been addictive to the soaps you got to limit the daytime TV. Ha Ha. Now if I can just get over this MH addiction I'll be all right.

If you are online a lot, just sign up for the weather warnings from WDAM. Everytime there is a weather alert, I get an email.

Hey- we are ok! Little bit of wind, torrential rain! Just cleared enough here to get the Wildblue to connect.
We don't have local tv and wouldn't have known it was coming had family members in Hattiesburg and Poplarville not called us! We now have rabbit ears hooked to one of the old televisions.
Ya'll ok Hawk?

I have been digging out my double 2' culverts for the past hourish. The water was about a foot over my driveway for a bit which means it was 4-5' deep. The neighbor also had washover on top of his 3' culvert. I lost a good chunk of $3,000 in dirt work and clearing I had done the last couple of weeks. I also had to go to the in-laws and help get some pumps started in the basement. They got 6-8" of water in it. The same guy did some work for them getting it ready to pour a new front porch. I guess you could say we had a flash flood for sure. :(

Oh no Pirate! I am so sorry, I know how it is to have dirt wash off- helpless feeling and it is too dang hard to scrape up, so you have to buy new! I hope our culvert is still in...we might need to go look.

I hope everyone got thru the bad weather from last night ok...it sure scared the hell out of me! I never did hear the USM sirens go off though.
I checked my rain gauge and I had over 5 inches here at my house across from FGH. I kept a watch on Gordons Creek and it never really got that high..maybe because the rain was a little stretched out over the day instead all at once.
Boy today is depressing! No wonder more people commit suicide in weather like this! I gotta get up and turn on every light in the house! It is just too dark and dreary. The cool is nice though...the dampness not...

I lived in "yankee land" for a little less than a year...THAT was too damn much for me! Shortly after we moved up there I was pregnant...there was snow that year from late September until late April, early May...I didn't get out while I was pregnant because I was afraid I would fall and loose the baby...after he was born I wouldn't get out because I was afraid I would fall and drop him. THAT era was probably the closest I every came to committing suicide! I was just before having a nervous breakdown! I got smart and moved to heck back home and my sanity returned for the most part! :) I AM NOT an inside person, never was, never will be! Much colder than today and it is WAY TOO COLD for me!
