Kinda-sorta (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/21/wstorm121.xml)
So, they can theoretically divert it's path.
To where? How do they chose who should be hit with a hurricane?

That's scary. With Mississippi's reputation and the fact that a lot of folks simply forgot about us after Katrina, we could be a prime target for a diversion.

I say divert em' all to Cuba. Nobody likes Cuba anyway. Just maybe the cigars.

But the hurricane modifiers are fighting more than the weather. Lawyers warn that diverting a hurricane from one city to save life and property could result in multi-billion dollar lawsuits from towns that bear the brunt instead. Hurricane Katrina caused about $41 billion in damage to New Orleans.
yeah.. cause didn't shit happen to Bay St. Louis or Gulfport or Biloxi or Pascagoula or hell even Hattiesburg.

They need to read John McPhee's book, The Control of Nature. He has a terrifying discussion of the consequences of trying to control the Mississippi River, with particular reference to the Atchafalaya Basin. And the book is probably twenty years old.

Those in New Orleans were a lot better at whining and claimed that everyone else needed to take care of them. We mostly shut up and took care of ourselves....so not too many paid attention to us.

Just heard that Pepperdine University is being evacuated. Unfortunately for your theory, there's lots of good stuff in California too.

not much... so we'd lose some wine, Google, and the Governator.. everything else can go..
(remember, most of Cali also believes we still have slaves, are inbred, and might have a 3rd grade education)

It must have taken you a long time to interview all those people in California, to come to this conclusion.:smt105

And great swatches of farm land that give us a great deal of our produce.
National treasures such as the Coastal Redwoods. Yosemite. Lake Tahoe. Death Valley. The Joshua Tree. The Muir Woods. The historic Spanish missions.
Perhaps most of California thinks *you* are ignorant because you make statements that reveal your ignorance in spades. Just sayin'...

I'm sure it was. The problem is that it's hard to tell that when there's so little to go on. You know?

maybe we should adopt a trend on some other internet forums i frequent... we call it cyan for sarcasim. if you're making a subtle joke which would be normally understood by body language (wink or a smile) you put it in cyan (blue) so that those on edge dont' just jump up and scream FOUL for nothin.
however if you usually write in blue then i guess no one will ever take you seriously...as if they ever did before...

We're almost ready to control hurricanes...
...except in New Orleans where "hurricane's" often times still control the people downtown:
