This ain't the first time it's happened. When I voted last time, I crap you not, the lady was looking for my name in the roll, found a guy with the same last name, and said,"Why, he's been dead for two years now." I crap you not, I started to ask her if he voted!

My dad & granddad were still on the rolls for the '04 election. They both died in the 70s. We were all three in a row right there in the book. I was tempted to vote for 'em, but I restrained myself.

It's hard to expect much else when you enter the court house and find those that are supposed to attend to this either asleep at their desk or playing computer games for the majority of the day.

When I worked the polls in P.R. Cnty...I would watch the obits...anyone who I was familiar with and knew voted in my precinct I would cut the obit out and file it...when we would have an election I would sit in my spare time and mark the voter book "deceased" and then make a list of those who had died and tape the obits to a blank sheet of paper and then turn it in with the voter sign in book at the end of the day....we were pretty good at keeping dead folks names from appearing on the ballots. Of course the few of us that worked that precinct did so for many years and we wanted things to be done right so we took the bull by the horns and did what we had to do.

One more reason for showing ID when you vote. I never did understand why this couldn't pass. You have to show ID for everything else, why not to vote. I know the argument, but come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is sad when you have a higher voter turn out of "dead people" than you do live ones... I would love to see the names on a few elections from the Burg and Perry County... I know for fact that they both had "dead people" voting in them! I hope that all of this election garbage gets straightened out before the Presidential Elections!

You said it before I did Baloo. I know for a fact things are not done as needed at our city hall. I still get a Christmas card inviting me to the city holiday luncheon they have at Christmas. It's been a LONG time since I have worked for the city. They still have me listed as an employee  or :ohnoes:. That means my identity was still on the things that were stolen during the city hall burglary. Yes, I am sure there have been many deceased people in the last few elections that have stood there and voted-with a smile on their face too. :ohnoes: Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, vote anyway ya can-it is a must! :smt023 ;)

I found it interesting these "voting irregularities" involved the Circuit Clerk race.

Among other duties, the Circuit Clerk oversees elections.

I would bet a dollar to a donut that there were quite a few deceased voters casting ballots in the mayor's race in the "Burg!!!:smt118

The reason it won't pass is because it would stop most of the fraud. You know the argument, but the arguments they use is not the real reason they oppose it. Just an excuse. If they were honest, they would say "we are against voter ID because that would keep us from trying to steal elections". There are many who wouldn't stand a chance of being elected without the dead vote....especially in urban areas.

The reason it won't pass is because it would stop most of the fraud.

The difference now is that a federal judge has ordered it, as opposed to it generating in the legislative branch.

Dead man had his vote taken away from him. (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071029/NEWS01/71029019)

And the woman he voted for has her name stricken from the ballot. Went to all that trouble climbing out of the grave just to see his candidate lose. What a drag, it just don't pay to vote dead anymore.
