Wow. I heard about this...had to deal with the drive around the world to get home because of it. The news said tonight that it started with an altercation with the PRVEPA who wanted to shut off her power...then escalated to the point she barricaded herself in her home with a shotgun. Did she really kill herself? It didn't happen at the Dollar General. She lived right next door to the Dollar General. Man, if ever you think your life is bad, it's easy to find someone who is having it 100 times worse than you. This is really just sad.

Me too Pinky. She had her house all decorated and nice....I just can't wrap my head around what could have possibly been the reason behind such a drastic choice to take your own life. No matter the problem - death is kinda a final option with no changing your mind afterwards. I truly hope she didn't have kids...I'm sure she will have family with so many questions. Many prayers go out to them.

Stories like this just give you one more reason to stop and say hello to those you know that might be struggling.
We never know when there is a hand leading us there.

I don't mourn her, she did it to herself. One less idiot in the world. People can say "oh how heartless"........she was the heartless, selfish one. She chose to take her own life and that was being selfish against people who cared about her and would go out of their way for her. There is always more options than pulling a silly trigger. If you truly believe that killing yourself is the answer to all your problems, You can't see the help beyond the end of your nose and you to damn proud to ask for help. Pride cometh before destruction.

If you've ever known anyone who was suicidal, you'd know that they aren't thinking clearly. Yes, it's the ultimate selfish act, but it's an act of confusion and desperation. I've known people who did it and people who tried, and in no case were they "idiots" -- they were people in tremendous pain. And the ones who did it left tremendous pain.

I really would like to know what happened. It's easy to sit back an assume when one doesn't have all of the facts, but I still am doing just that. It seems like when she waved them off with a shotgun, they could have said "yes ma'am, we won't cut the power off now" and let her calm down some. Later, friends or family could talk to her to calm her down or find out what the problem was and they could later arrest her for threatening with a gun. But at the time, I wonder if it would have been easier to just back off and let the situation cool instead of a standoff. BUT, like I said, it's easy to assume when not knowing the facts. That's why I would love to know what really happened.

I don't know, but there was a HOTHOT, blonde FEMALE state trooper that had 589 blocked off at 98. That was a first.

well, amandah, when I drove by, I didn't know what was going on. I feel bad for the lady that shot herself, her family, and all that stuff, but I couldn't help but make the neccesary observation that there was a hot little gal with a blonde poneytail wearing a tight uniform, gun, and standing next too a very fast car. :)

IGID, tell Heather she needs to put a little more meat on her bones. :) Her belt looked like it weighed more than she did.

Oh, BBD, I talked to the lady in my avatar - she said you will just have to deal with it for now. :-D

I heard that she did endeed take her own life. I am not sure if she has chidlren. grandchildren, etc. She was alone at the time the suicide happened. Apparently, she was renting the house and the landlord needed the power shut off to do some repairs. It was not like PRVEA was there to disconnect her power for non-payment. I agree with several other posters, there had to be more going on in the womans life to end this way.

It seems like the landlord would have given her a quick heads up. "I got to fix ___________ and to do that the power is gonna be off. I'll try to have it back on ASAP"

No one does know just what was going on in her mind. I don't consider anyone with mental problems to be an IDIOT. All families have someone with some type of mental disorder walking around here on this earth. It is a sad situation. If you have ever known anyone that has commited suicide you will all to well understand it has nothing to do with being an idiot. We all have problems, some handle them better than others. I feel sorry for her and her family and will keep them in my prayers as I ask our members on here that join in on the prayer request post to do the same.

You may not mourn her dude, but at least you could show some compassion for her family who knew and loved her. Did you think that none of them were on this forum? She was a very sweet person who was battling Bipolar, an illness that embarrassed her terribly. She was fine most of the time; a very caring person, a member of Central Baptist Church, a wife, and the stepmother of a 16 year old. She was well educated; gave up a promising career in the medical field several years ago as she recognized her illness and knew she no longer belonged in that field of work. Like I said she was alright most of the time; her problems would arise mostly when there was a change in her meds one way or another. It would take her time to adjust to the new changes. At times like these reality could and sometimes did take a back seat. She was not responsible for her thinking at this time. When she overcame these ‘spells” she was very embarrassed and just wanted it to never happen again!

Her husband is a very nice young man who loved her very much despite her mental illness. He is also still trying to recover from the suicide of his father just over 6 years ago.
Now he has this sorrow and pain piled on top of what he already carried. He is a man in much pain!
As I said, 6 years ago his father was very ill and seemed to think he would not get better and did not want to be a burden on his family. He should have known better; that his family loved him very much and would have been willing to have done anything for him and to help him.
However, he too was not thinking straight because of his illness. He too was not responsible for his actions. . This family needs prayer; and not to hear the kind of stuff you are saying.
To the rest of you, thank you for your prayers, they are much needed and much appreciated.

she must be a tough gal to survive trooper school. I know alot of fellows that can't handle it, much less a young gal like that.

I can't for the life of me think of her name right now (I am stressed) but she used to work in the office at MHP then decided to become a trooper. She was working on the coast until Katrina or there abouts...her hubby is also a trooper. She is teeny tiny but she can be MEAN! Cute as a button she is! :) She and I ate lunch together several times when I was working in the Bay...we compared notes on David Wynn...after all she had worked under him too when she was in the office at MHP.

She lives on the west side of Purvis, or did. Either that or there is another cute blonde MHP officer out there.
