I was on my way to Jackson for my last securities tested (passed it finally, 2nd try, anyways, different story for different time). And the raceway on 49 had on their sign 3.53/gallon for gas. I thought it was a Mistake so I didn't think nothing of it. but when I came back through, It was still there! I got a picture of it from my car while passing it. The picture is coming soon as I figure how to get it off my phone!

Diesel is killing me. $3.00/gal at 8mpg. At least with a business, the cost can/must be passed on to some extent. Everyone says it is less costly to make, but the price is higher. Has been since about 2002 when I bought my diesel pickup. Well, they know that truckers/businesses have to have it.

It's just so stupid... it doesn't cost any more to get the oil out of the ground and to the refinery and to the pump than it did 6 months ago... all this speculation is bullshit. full out, 100% bullshit. And we're paying for it.

CB, even OPEC has said this. The investors are throwing so much money into it that it's forcing up the prices. I bet if you check to see who those investors are, you'll understand the situation.

Just as I said.........
Those views were echoed by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), whose Secretary-General Abdel Aziz Abdullah al-Turki said the oil market was no longer driven purely by demand and supply factors, but by speculators.

Well, medium duty Kodiak with 2500 gal tank. 33K gvw. Heavy load, small motor. Six cylinder CAT 3116. Call it my baby CAT, or kitten! She's at the edge, loaded. Keep her tuned up. Full service every 3 mo regardless. Valve lash adjustment at 120K only 6 mo ago. Oh well. They sure don't give those turbos away either. Disentigrated one about 4 mo ago. :smt086
Mileage may be decieving because in my work there is much running of the truck while not moving (PTO at 1000rpm). Also, almost no highway use. Mucho start and stopping that load.

I'm still working on my mtn. bike with the Briggs and Stratton on it, by the way.......
Well whatever, it ain't looking good this morning. Oil traders have pushed the ppb to over $96 this morning.....it'll prolly top $100 shortly. At the same time, this morning, independent referineries are complaining of lower profits on higher crude prices so it won't be much longer before the cost is passed on to the consumer.
I'm not sure why/how we let middle-man traders inflate the price of oil when the free market supposedly works on simple supply and demand.
That being said, even the big 3 intergrated oil companies are reporting lower production. I think there is a lot of BS involved and soon, we'll ge taking up the ass again.
CB, I about ready for that lectric bike.
We've been taking it up the ass since 2001, when they figured out we WOULD.

it's been longer than that... I remember gas going up so high when I was in high school in the 90's. That was a good bit then. It's just we got so used to being ass*ucked that way, we only feel it when it gets a little bigger. Pretty soon, we'll be used to taking it this big and will need it a bit bigger to get us hurting again. I"m not sure when we'll figure out that taking it in the ass isn't all it's cracked up to be.

The oil company profits are driving the problem. The investors in these companies are pushing the companies to continue on this crazy march for profit. It'll crash at some point but that still may not be before we're at $4.00 a gallon.

When I bought my first diesel F-250 in 2004 I paid $1.45p/g for diesel. Gasoline regular was $1.69 at the time. Last night at the Shell at Old 11/98 gas was $2.79 and diesel $3.19. I've got a scooter that never sees the road, only racetrack pits and camping and such, that might get a tag and start getting some street time since it gets 85mpg.

There's a revolution calling. Someone pick up the damn phone.
The stock market is lead by emotions and speculation. Instant gratification is a little more the standard now than in years past. Constant upheaval is the result as evidenced by the succession of skyrockets and ruts.
Larger local refineries, and I'm speaking of in the South East are spending millions on upgrades which will increase output which "may" have an effect but that's yet to be seen. (Chevron / Exxon)
I saw Chicken George at Petal Walmart on his scooter, I'm start'n to think he may be the smartest man in Mississippi!!!
Makes me want to open a country store where everybody shows up on Saturday nights for red beans & rice with a beer or coffee afterwards and somebody shoves in a DVD they have picked up lately and everybody hangs around to watch it before walking home and going to bed.

I think you've got the right idea. You know, some of us were raised by what has been dubbed the "greatest generation". They came up during the depression, fought world war 2, and then tried to give us more. Many of them were successful...but most of us still didn't have much according to today's standard's in the US. We tried to continue with giving our kids "more" and started buying them all kinds of toys and clothes, cars, ect. Now our kids have kids, and they want everything...NOW. I just think that somehow along the way we got screwed up and too many folks are interested in how much STUFF they can accumulate and show off to others that we have forgotten how to just sit back and enjoy the good things in life....
