I've been listening to Sirius Blues the last week or so. Some good, good stuff. I'm really glad the Jaycees decided to move the time of the Christmas parade up this year. Roots Reunion starts at 6:00, and I'd hate to have missed any of it.

I can't believe you put up clarence gatemouth brown. Shook the mans hand in 97. He died a few days after Katrina. Nothing like telling someone how much pleasure their music has brought you. Had the chance. What else can you tell someone? I am so glad i got the chance. He knows now. Signed my poster with my name. I have it. He could not read or write. well known fact. i don't know why he tried, but God bless him. no one like him. Rest in peace, Clarence Gatemouth Brown. Gate's express played the Shed in Ocean Springs not long after and I have the music. Has to be the first or close since his death. God rest his soul. Magic in those fingers and I touched them.

Cedric Burnside will be live in person playing RL's stuff at the HIppo later this month. I absolutely love to hear him play. ALSO- there are a few good blues bands that play around the burg pretty regular... the Deltamatics and Davis Coen. Davis Coen played in town last weekend so it may be a few weekends before he is back, he is good and the Deltamatics are fantastic.

Robert Johnson should be in this list somewhere- I don't have the skills needed to search you tube and post any video there may be. I doubt there is any available. If it were not for Robert Johnson we would not have the music we have today.

Great thread, RG. I'm just now getting into blues and this will give me some good stuff to start my blues liberry. heh heh heh. I've got a smattering of different genre but 90% is country. I've added some Zydeco, some Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., 50's rock and roll. I've got some Big Band from the 40's. But R/B I don't have. I feel like I've missed a lot. So I want to catch up. I have a friend who loves John Gatemouth Brown. Never heard him.

O.K. this next clip is the first time that "The Blues Brothers Band" performed. They did this as a joke clip but liked the sound then came the Blues Brothers. The performers are all members of the band, just in Bee Suits. I think that Belushi and Ackroyd did a lot to revitalize the blues. Ackroyd also plays a mean harp!
