View Full Version : Duck
My dad just got back from a few days of duck hunting. He says my mom always ends up throwing out the meat instead of cooking it, so I told him to freeze it and that I'd bring it back home when we come back from Thanksgiving.
So what do I do with duck? Is it good?
It is excellent. Roast or bbq with honey on top.

Absolutely! Have you never had Peking Duck at a - good - Chinese Restaurant? Very tasty.
OT: if your folks don't eat ducks, why shoot them?

My dad likes going hunting with his buddies. He wants to eat it, but is out of town a lot working, so it's up to my mother to cook it. Apparently, she doesn't like it or something. He said too much of it has been thrown out. A shame, huh?

Why not sell them? A lot of people like duck. I'd take a plucked, cleaned one :-D

Mac, cut the duck breast in strips, wrap em in bacon and grill em. They are great appetizers for the Thanksgiving meal. I've done that several times whent I've been lucky enough to have a duck hunter give me some of the spoils of their hunts.

I went duck hunting once. Only people with guilty consciences go duck hunting. Like self flagellation.

Hiya dollfus....I'm at work but from time to time steal away to post......I just don't post as often as when I'm at home, and rarely have time to get into my long winded stuff.

Sellin' wild game is illegal.
But shooting it and then throwing it away isn't. Makes sense :smt105
Oh well, I'll sacrifice myself and take a freebie then.

Hawk's recipe sounds wonderful. But, I had a good laugh remembering the first time I cooked a duck (one from the grocery store) -- I didn't realize how little meat is on one. Fortunately I served my company first, 'cause I got nuthin but crumb!
Everytime I think of duck, I remember the movie Christmas Story where the family dinner is ruined when the neighborhood dogs run inside and dash off with the turkey. The family ends up having to go to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. They are served duck with the head on! Very funny!

Anybody want to speculate as to why my jocular reference to Shakespeare's Hamlet was removed?
You're thinking of the other thread.
