well, i'm doing my research on christmas lights- and it's looking good.

who else is putting some up? lowe's and walmart competing for the sale- 11.88 to 11.99 for 400 lights (multicolor)

target has the 4' x 5' netted lights on sale right now for 5.99/ a bunch

one thing that i'm working on right now is do i want to do the icicle lights or just do the ol fashoned multi's around the trim of the house-

We're thinking of going for the griswold effect this year. I just wish the roof wasn't so steep.

i was wrong as far as lights go.......$10.97 for 450 of em at lowes, or 2.24 per 100, which would mean that you would get 500 for 11.20, which is a better deal than wally world. lowes also has the c7 big bulb lights for 5.84 per 25----which i'm going to do around 2 winders

I can't remember what the exact name is but they have these lights, that if one bulb goes out all of them do make sure you don't get those. We put some up but we still have some from last year, we got ours at the end of the season last year from wal-mart for a spectacular price.

Speaking of lights... I was wanting to get the old timey looking cermanic lights for the tree this year... but then someone told me those are bad about catching on fire. Anyone know anything about that?

CSGuy... You should have thought about this project last year when you could have picked up the lights on clearance from Target for about $.50 a box. I've got about a 1/4 palatte of them in our closet...

The whole immediate family will be spending Christmas up in Ohio at my daughter's house. I'm looking forward to going to see Christmas lights with my 3 grandsons.

not sure how many lights I'm doing this year. I've gotten kinda tired of the whole christmas lights thing over the years.

We're thinking of switching over to LED lights this year, if its not to expensive to pick them up.

All I have to do is plug in the lights that have been on the roof for 6 years.

the C9 ones-I don't even know where to find the replacement bulbs for those anymore! i still have a few sets though... i've never had them catch fire, but they're really bad about busting if you barely bump them together. something about the pressure inside the bulbs.

Unless you just NEED them this year, wait until after Christmas and pick up some boxes on clearance. They are WAY to expensive, IMO, to purchase at regular retail.

c-belt,

i did think about it last year, but we were in the middle of "tearing down" the house last year that i think we were lucky to get a tree up-

wana sell some of them lights tho?

i went to lowes, got 20 strings of 100 @ 2.00 a piece. saved about $6 vs. buying the 150/string pack of 3.......

also got a couple of packs of the c7 lights, and a box of 300 icicle lights. i think i'm going to do icicle around just the front of the house where the front door be, then multi all over the rest-

i just looked at the roof, and wondering how the hell i'm going to get up there- been here 2 years and never on the roof, and i don't do really good with heights.

Speaking of Christmas lights--have any of you ever been to see the "Lewis Lights" out on White Chappel Road near Purvis? If you have never been, you are really missing out! The displays that they have every year will take your breath away! I had never seen anything like it before! We have been several times. They add something else to it every year.:-D

I have my back porch rails done, two of the neighbors too, the 6 foot cross, I finished the lights on there today and will put the tree up tomorrow. The fiber optic angel is also out but I have to get the three big lighted ones out that go by the cross. I am working on it like y'all are. Seems like the angels may work great near the statue of the Virgin Mary in my backyard too. It looks great when it is all done with the woods in back of all the lights. Can't wait to finish.

Gosh, I definately hope so. We go every year and walk through. I'm really glad I was able to take my mom before she got so sick. She was amazed and really enjoyed going.

I would love to do some out door decorations at our apartment (it's allowed as far as I know) but my husband thinks it would look redneck and stupid as we are on the backside of the apt.s away from the road.:smt086 I think my son would enjoy it. We've never decorated anywhere we've lived.

I heard our complex does a contest...they did at Halloween too. It's a whole different outlook when you can hang lights in this weather! I can't get over it! I'm used to being dressed like I'm ready for moon exploration!

Alas...I got rid of so much to be able to fit into my apartment...

Aren't decorations supposed to be for you? I say hang them and go to town (I always decorated my balcony when I was in an apartment....and I'll be threading lights all over the porch when I get back from Thanksgiving)

I think my spouse has a touch of the Grinch in him. I know of several of the units that decorated in some way on the outside. He has an excuse every year "We live in a trailer", "We live to far out in the woods", "We live on the wrong side of the complex/We'll look like rednecks". I've pretty much given up.:smt009

if you know your son would like the decorations just do it don't worry what others may or may not think do what you want for you and your family! The memories will be worth if not you will say later, i wished, i could of, i should of, and so on...

GO DECORATE AND PUT ON SOME CHRISTMAS TUNES AND BLAST IT!
