My husband is a motorcycle fanatic. He rides a Road King but has a couple others lying around. When we met, he had this old Honda setting up in his garage, and I decided I wanted to learn to ride. After I bugged him about it for a while, he finally loaded the Honda up on a trailer, took me out to the country, and intended to show me the basics. I told him I knew what I was doing (How hard could it be, anyway?) and road off through the pasture. About twenty seconds later, I went to clutch the thing. Somehow the handlebars turned to the right alllll the way, and I went over the front of the bike. It banged it (and me) up a bit, but the thing that hurt most was my pride. Well, needless to say I have never lived that down.
The Honda sat in the shop for another 3-4 years, and finally I started pressing him to fix it and let me try again. We finally fixed the bent shifter and a few other things, and I started trying to ride again. I have been doing it around our house for a few months now, but still haven't gotten a license or anything. I'll also admit that I'm a little gunshy after my first experience and I'm not 100% confident, but I do want to GET confident, and I want to ride on pretty days. When I see all those people out there doing it, it just looks fun. The Honda's not road worthy (bald tires, etc.) and we don't want to put any more money into it, so he said if I was really interested he'd buy me something else.
Well, a month or so ago he bought this basketcase Sportster that we thought we could rescue. It's gonna be a long term project though, and I wanted instant gratification. So a few days ago we saw this for sale in Jackson, and yesterday it became mine.

So Pooker, if you're reading this, the above story should tell you why I said I'd go ride with you if I can stay alive long enough to get legal.
Aint it purty?
