its gannett policy to focus on 'getting it out there'
in other words...they are focused much more on quantity than quality

I'll tell you. If you want job security, be a weatherman. Nobody else could hold a job 5 minutes with their record of getting it right. Sheeesh. I think they play pin the tail on the donkey right before going on the air. that or throw darts for the forecast.

tornadoes can. You walk outside and it's warmer than it should be and dark and windy? You'd better find a place to hide. I literally outran one onetime coming out of Columbia SC on I-20 heading home to Florence, SC. I saw the sucker in my rear view mirror. Had the radio on and it was going due east just like me.

the one that hit the Kmart back in 98 landed on my car
i think anyway...me and a buddy were driving along 98 over 49 when all of a sudden my car started sliding and the two passenger side windows got blown out...and something hit my buddy in the head and stuck in there..the wind gust ran me into the median on the other side of the light in front of K mart going west...
for some reason i decided to floor it out of the ditch to get home...he hung his jacket by the window to keep the hail from flying in and hitting him
then we parked it in a buddys garage in oak grove
thats when we saw on the news that the tornado in the area had tore the K mart up
so the assumption is...we skirted it or it was above us or something...but it was dark and there were no lights so we didnt actually SEE it
