Gang initiation

A coworker of mine was in the Sheriffs office this morning. When she came back she said that while she was there someone told her to make sure to lock her car door even when she's driving. Supposedly there is some kind of gang initiation going on, and guys are kidnapping women from their cars while stopped at redlights or stop signs.

I hadn't heard anything about this on the news... you would think if this were true, they would have reported something about it.

Anyone else heard anything? Maybe one of our law enforcement friends could fill us in....

Dayum!! Small world. We have a similar situation up heah. Gang membership requires someone be robbed at gunpoint. Happens all the time now late at night in various Apartment complexes. Cops told us it was gang related. Always a group of three guys. WTF? So be careful guys too! Three with a piston on one will take a big man with good sense.

Haven't heard of this in Mississippi in several years but it was a deal in Jackson many years ago when the gangs started up, especially around South Jackson.
Always a good idea to keep your car doors locked when you leave home and if you pull up to a red light or stop sign and something aka somebody doesn't look right, just look both ways and keep on going.

I haven't heard of this Lips, but considering it's the Holiday Season - Ladies should always be hyper-aware of their surroundings. Watch taking packages to the car, make sure no one is following you and if you think they are - drive to the police station. Look under your car before you approach - there was a situation on holiday season in Mobile where the perps were hiding under the car and slicing the achilles tendon.

If something doesn't feel right - trust your gut and go back into the store and ask for someone in security to walk you out. Better safe, than sorry.

I got some pretty graphic pictures of a male run over by a sure enough truck. The back story went like this.......

The guy was a gang member in LA trying to Jack the truck while it was moving. When he pointed the gun at the window in the drivers door, the driver simply opened the door and the gang member fell off the side of the truck, the driver swerved and hit the brakes. Unfortunately for the would be truck jacker, the truck came to stop on his chest. Kinda hard to breath like that. One less car/truck jacker in the world.

Lips I just talked to one of the gang officers and an investigator at LCSO and neither had heard anything of it.

It may have been someone around the office who had received one of those urban legends emails and ran with it.

Either way, it's always better to be safe than sorry. :clap:

I do remember several years back in New Orleans......it got real bad about guys grabbing purses out of cars at red lights until several ladies started packing heat and began using at red lights....they don't do that much in New Orleans anymore......Just sayin'...........

We have the right of domicile now to guard our homes and cars. I have a gun and know how to use it.

I have always been told if someone is coming for me or blocking the road --awhile back in my home county in a remote area on 84 a chain of people would block the road. My best friend's mom told us to gun it and go through 'em and keep going. If they had sense, they would move and if not, they were out to harm us anyway. We were also told to ride the rims 'til we got to safety. I never saw that but, I would have done it.

I do hear that more scams, robberies and panhandlers are out now. Everyone is caught up in their hustle-bustle.

There was a USM class on self-defense-- USM SECURITY put it on. and IGID knows about one. The one at USM is free or maybe $5-10. Well worth it just to help you be aware. I am amazed at how much I learned.:smt023

One of my daughters works at Lovie's on 98. Today, around lunch someone broke the window out of a worker's car to get things out of the seats right in broad daylight!!!!!!!!!! The car was parked on the side of the store in full view of the windows but no one saw anything. The police were called and said more and more things like this are happening out this way. Everyone be careful no matter where you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too was in a gang. The Blood Folk Crips wuz my set that I repped. I like Bpitt rolled deep. To become a member you had to cuss in class under your breath. You also had to walk the halls without a pass. Chuck up a deuce to dem people. You know who you are. Anyway yes this is a dangerous time of year too because people are looking for an easy target because of the holidays. I have always heard it is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. one night me and a buddy were hittin golf balls with a 1wood into a pasture across Hwy 45 just north of Quitman.. it was about midnight or so...

yep... shanked one and nailed a minivan right in the driver window. He/She never saw us b/c it was dark. We just layed down in the gulley behind us and didn't breath for about 10 minutes. The van didn't wreck but he stopped and cussed up a storm.

I just put my money and credit card in my front pocket and carry the purse for a brush, makeup, notes and pen. A mugger in Houston took my cousins purse but she carried all her money in her diaper bag and carried diapers, wipes and a bottle in her purse, haha. Raised in a big city makes you street wise.
