Please pray for our service men and women who again appear headed to the war zone....hopefully it will all be over "before" they have to actually go back.

I am one of those potential soldiers. I did my time the first time and nearly paid for it with my life, twice. I signed the contract and will faithfully oblige. However, the role of the National Guard is at home. Katrina was a good example of that. I have to ask though, how many more must die to save face?? Jan 20, 2009 may dawn a different day if Ron Paul gets elected. We will defend this country from any enemy. I will take a bullet for him and I would take one for each one of you if the situation warranted. God Bless us, the Constitution, Ron Paul, and the soldiers who will not return... though I march to the beat of a different drummer your lives will not be lost on me.

If we had the power to bring our neighbors home from war... they'd never miss a Christmas... no more ribbons on the door. John Mayer, Ron Paul supporter, talented musician. "Waiting on the world to change".

MD, they're going
I couldn't believe they called up David Simms. He was 58 and he spent a year there. Course he is a computer specialist.

What unit were you in? I guess we were over there at the same time. I was in A 1/155 at Iskandariyah.

hendrix, I hope and pray that you nor any of our other guys have to go back...we have a nephew who has just been called up...he is in Washington State now training...our prayers will be with you all...THANKS for serving our country. My husband was in Viet Nam, my son is a veteran too...thank God he never saw warfare though. Good luck and keep us posted on what is going on.
I find it interesting that the president is so free to send other people's children into war...something he was able to squirm out of when he was in. Let all the politicians send their kids over there...see how long the war last. (yes, I do know some of their kids are there but probably more not than are)

Only a hand full for sure.... I think the song War Pigs is appropriate here!
Sneak, we were there at the same time. I was in C Btry 2-114th (now B Btry). We were the ones that started out in laid back Lima and Karbala and then moved to Hit in the Al-Anbar. I was in Iskan a few times and that place blew.... so did Hit.

Hendrix, I just don't have the words to express my appreciation for your and Sneaky's service, not so much for me at my age now, but for my children and grandchildren. It's like raising a child. There are no instant results. We don't know where we'd be now without our military. Since our daily lives are allowed to go on as always we fail to recognize that you and yours are the reason. It's only when we lose our freedom or have our lives disrupted that we appreciate you. It's too late then. Be safe, come home and my God keep you in the palm of His hand.

Yesterday a friend told me that her neighbor's Mother just had a stroke & is in the hospital & that he just found out that he has to return to Iraq for a 2nd tour of duty. God bless our troops & their families! Freedom is not FREE & we don't EVER need to forget it!:smt023

I served with him! Computer Specialist, yes, but also father, grandfather, friend and one hell of a Soldier. He was deployed with the 185th AV Gp and was sent to one of the most dangerous areas in Iraq. Remember Computer Specialists, like all Soldiers, are trained in basic skills required to fight and survive. I salute CW4 Simms and all those like him.

Thank you all for your support. On HA there is no talk about this. Just about Coach Bower. While Coach Bower is a good person etc there is much more important things in the world to think about.
I hope you guys don't go again. These long tours are crazy. There are enough people in the military that they could do the rotation a little better.

I am thankful for our soldiers every time I see some of them from Shelby in Hattiesburg. We see so many of them and I often wonder if we let them know how much they are appreciated. I grew up in the Viet Nam era and often wondered if that war was necessary as well as I wonder if this one is too. I don't know the answer to that, but it doesn't keep me from having a deep admiration for those of you who are willing to put your lives on the line for me as well as my children and grandchildren.

We have tried to show support of our soldiers every day by flying our flag...we have also "adopted" soldiers every Thanksgiving...inviting several each year to come spend the day with us and pig out. We didn't get to do it this year because we were out of state until the day before and I was just too pooped to do all the cooking, nor did I have time to get the grocery shopping done.
It really worried me too...I cried on and off all day thinking about the poor guys who were away from their families, many for the first time and being stuck in BFE all alone. I would hope that someone would be kind to my son or husband IF they were still in the service and many miles away from home. We have made some dear friends hosting the servicemen.

This really came home to me today. One of my students is in this unit.

Hermione, I know many of these Soldiers personally. Talked to one today who said, "I don't mind going. I've been there once. This time it won't be something new and I'll know what to do....and don't you worry, we'll be back."
Keep them in your prayers!

My best friend from highschool is with the 155 and this will be his 3rd time in the sand box once with the hundred and first airborne and twice with the 155. He is a combat medic so he is for sure going to be one of the first to go..

Walking, my prayers will go out for your friend. I hope and pray that all our guys get home soon and never have to go back. I thank God everyday that my son is out of the service now. I wish other mothers sons (and daughters) could all be out too. I do appreciate their dedication and service though. I just pray that the next president will not be as quick to jump into war as this one has been.
