I can't believe this, but I ran over little weiner dog, Opie. He is at the evet now. WWAAAAA!!!!!
The kids won't talk to me and I haven't gotten the courage to tell Big Daddy. (He says he hates him but secretly loves him)
He was so pitiful.

Well I swear I felt him under my tire but he doesn't have any broken bones. However, he is in shock and already has a purple color in his pelvic area. They are concerned about his labored breathing and are watching to make sure nothing happens. He is on morphine.
He got out and chased me and my oldest as we were going to the walking track.
He was scared and he was in pain.:smt086

pinky, I am so sorry to hear that... What kind of dog is he? I had a 120 mutt that was run over by a one ton dually and he lived... He had a broken pelvis and bruised internal organs and it was so sad watching him in pain, but he made it. I brought him home from the vet's office and put him out in my hay barn and just babied him for about 6 weeks and after that he never had a problem.
I hope that your dog is doing ok and that he will heal and be healthy. They are very strong and resiliant creatures... Good luck with him...
I hope he's okay. Don't beat yourself up though.
My first dog's name was Pinky. I named her that because the letter of the week at school that week was "P." (I was in pre-school.) My mother ran over her in the driveway, and even though it sucked I didn't suffer any serious psychological trauma because of it. Kids are pretty resilient creatures too.

I think I will make him more rotten than he already is!!!! He has torn up every pillow and comforter the boys have. He has eaten all the wicker furniture in my sunroom. He has tee teed on all my oriental rugs. I LOVE HIM!!!

He is a dashound/weiner dog. I bought him as a surprise for one of the boys.

That could've been a picture of mine when she was a puppy..... I'm sure your pup will be fine, they're resilient. No matter what, I'm sure your kids will understand, soon.
Oh My. That is a cutie!
You're killin' me! I have been wanting a weiner dog. They're cute puppies and cool dogs! There's one in our neighborhood that walks around like he's the neighborhood alpha. I have two mutts that love me though.

Oh Pinky, I'm so sorry............ I ran over my lab in the garage one day. Rhett and she were in the garage as I came home and I thought she had gotten up as I drove up (which any normal dog would have done) but she didn't and I ran straight over her front legs. Rhett screamed at me to stop so I did, right on top of her legs! Okay after I realized this I backed up and she bit Rhett as he was trying to get her in the car to take her to the vet. But you know what, it didn't even break the legs!!!!!!! that's been about seven years ago, she has some arthritis now and doesn't move too well on cold mornings but man is she reistant or what?

My baby got hit by a car, his hip was broken. Luckily I found him immediately and took him to the vet. He was going into shock. Doc gave him a shot of something and kept him overnight. He was fine the next day. He had to wear panties for a while because he had problems pooing without making a mess. All this happened on Superbowl Sunday at 430pm.
He lifts his little leg when he runs sometimes but he is good to go.
Hang in there Opie ... yo buddy Oscar!!!!

Oh, Pinky! Miss Weenie & I will be praying for Opie to come through this with flying colors! BTW, Miss Weenie says to tell you that "Weenie Dogs Rule!" She is a red smooth coat like yours, but she will be 10 in Feb. Her face & little hands have turned white now. She still thinks that she's 10 feet tall & bullet-proof, like all weenie dogs do!

Opie is doing ok. Thanks for asking!!!
He is home and in his kennel. He is on pain meds and really mellow. He is obviously sore and hurting but I think he will be ok.
The biggest thing the vet said was to keep him from trying to play with the boys.
Annie (his lady friend) was so happy to see him!!!!!

Pinky, I pray that your doggy baby will be ok...I can't even imagine how you must feel. I know in your case this was an accident but it makes me think about folks who just let their critters out to run wild without a leash or a fence then bitch when something "happens" to their critter....
Had those folks been so damn concerned to begin with the critter would not have been hurt in the first place. Please keep us posted. Let us know if we can be of help.

Yes, it does yank my chain when people complain about their dogs but let them run wild.
Opie is an inside baby. We laugh b/c he is such a pansy that he will poo on the concrete if the grass is cold or wet. :smt118 (Hubby LOVES that!)
Annie is an outside dog with no fence. However, she stays close and doesn't leave unless she is on our boat or gator. :kekeke:

On another note, is the behavior over wet grass a typical dauchound behaviour? My baby is part Dach. and she HATES wet grass. :-D

Pinky - Mrs BB just pointed out the thread and your accident. We pet owners all fear such accidents and guard against them BUT having done the same thing more than once with disastrous results ( for both animal and owner ), I sympathize with you and your puppy dog. I'm just glad you both will be OK. Keep him safe and love him lots...........

I don't know if it is. I have thought about it before and wondered if it is because their little legs are so short that they don't like the wet grass touching their bellies.:kekeke: I'm sure there are some owners who know.

Oh Pinky,
I just read the whole thread... I am so sorry... I hope your baby heals real fast. You can see mine as my avatar. He isn't my whole world but the largest percentage of it. He got bone cancer over a year ago and we had to have it amputated... Rarely does a day go by without my examining his remaining legs and thanking the good Lord for another day with him... He just turned 8 last month.
A side note my step daughter came back to live with us or a while and brought her little wiener dog with her... I talk gruffly around the women but the little turkey goes everywhere with me and Kujeaux... His name is tee niny because according to her he isn't tiny he is tee niny... I call him stinky wink... He too hates the cold and with a woman going through the change in life we often keep the house cold... He jumps on the bed (MY BED!!) then roots under and sticks his ice cold nose in the middle of my back... I probably have permanent back muscular damage from my jerking wide awake...
But when they throw their eyes on yours and just stare it kinda tears you up doesn't it?
Sometimes life just seems cruel doesn't it?
Here's praying your Opie comes through fast and with no lingering after effects...
Keep us posted on his recovery please...

Oh Pinky, Thank God your little Opie is back home. Just keep a close check on him and shower him with lots of kisses, he will get well faster. If you keep him crated it most of the time for the next few days until he heals a little he will probably be better off. Good luck and keep us posted on how he is doing. Sending prayers up for you all.

The truck is his he thinks... Front seat, back seat and sometimes thinks he can sit in my lap... He really is spoiled rotten... As all dogs should be...
Especially Opie... He really needs extra loving or sure...
Not sure how he gets along Pinky but Kujeaux had difficulty getting around and we put a t-shirt on him and held him up by the shirt. Or at least gave him some much needed assistance...
