Today's article in the HA (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071213/NEWS01/712130313)

If this is true, I really wish him well. It's going to be a tough job turning that district around, but if anyone can help do it, he can. Good luck, Glenn.

Glenn Swan is a good man who did an excellent job as Superintendent of the Lamar County Schools. He endured a lot of heat during the passage of the May 2005 school bond, and, he is probably right it did play a significant role in costing him re-election. This is nothing against Ben Burnett, who I know will also be an excellent superintendent, but people tend to remember those who do things they don't like more than than they do individuals/leaders who do things they do like. I would venture Ben probably mon the overwhelming majority of the vote of people who voted against the school bond, even though he was for it himself -- while the vote was more evenly split with those who supported it.

He certainly faces a daunting task in Jeff Davis County, but I wish him the very best.

Thank you to Glen Swan for the leadership in the Lamar Co School Dist. Good luck in this new adventure, it should be quite a challenge.
