Does anyone know of a Dentist's office that would be willing to allow someone to pay off a procedure month by month? I have cracked a tooth  and want to get it taken care of. I have dental insurance, I just can't afford to use it (sadly enough!!). Any ideas?!?

I don't understand not being able to afford to use your dental insurance.

Chances are I won't be able to afford to pay whatever's left to get the procedure done. I know that several offices around here want your part of the money up front, and I don't know that I'll be able to pay it up front.

Try Dr. Greer...my hubby uses them and he has an account with them.

I'm looking at purchasing my own dental insurance because I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a root canal soon. Even after the insurance picks up, I'm looking at having to pay $700-800.

I think that the women's health clinic may have a dentist or two on staff also...they go by your income if I am not mistaken, try calling 601 544-4550

There is a dental office out there that is income based, but some procedures are not available on the sliding scale and they want the money upfront as wall. I just got off of the phone with them.

My husband and I have enhanced dental coverage through his employer largely because we both have already had teeth crowned.

It costs a bit more, but I don't know if we'd be disciplined enough to save to "self-insure" ourselves in the event we need more teeth crowned.

For us, it's easier to come up with 50% of the treatment cost than the whole amount.

My dental insurance through my employer was FABULOUS. If you maintained your cleanings, the first year any procedure (including root canals and crowns) were covered at 80%. The second year, if you maintained your preventative maint., at 90%. The third year, 100% because they figured that anything major would have been caught long before. I had two crowns done in the 5th year that I didn't pay a penny for because I was getting my teeth cleaned 3 times a year (covered by my policy).

My husband uses Dr. Goza and I believe they will bill you.

ind out when your coverage begins and ends a year. We had dental dental one time and their year ended Feb 28. I talked to my dentist and explained my policy and its limits and we performed the procedures at the end of their coverage year and at the beginning of the next year... It had been a while since I let one of those sadistic people in my mouth... I had a good bit of work done but with the way we did it I had a lot less out of pocket to pay for...

So life was... as good as going to a dentist could ever be...

I like my dentist, but he's not real flexible on billing. He wants to know the insurance situation before he does anything. I guess I can't blame him. When I was in college I needed a root canal but didn't have any insurance. I asked him if I could pay it off month by month and he said the thing that costs so much is the CROWN you have to get-- not the root canal itself. So he did the root canal and I paid for that, and he gave me a temporary crown until I could pay for the real one. Once he got to know me and I saw him a few times and established that "I'm your regular patient" relationship, he became more flexible. Now I have insurance so I don't have to worry about it.

YOu have insurance that you can't afford to use? Not to sound rude, but what's the point of having the insurance??

Remember if you're going to have a procedure done and file it on insurance, and you haven't met your deductible, wait until Jan.
