Just saw this flick tonight and it was VERY stressful! I thought it was very well made and enjoyed it thoroughly. Driving home at 2 in the morning --and there are no cars, etc...pretty creepy. I was scared something was going to jump at the car. When I got home, I rushed inside the house and locked the door in a panic! haha

So great scary movie...worth the money for sure!:clap::clap:

Glad to hear that this is a good movie! I was hoping to see it some time this weekend, so hopefully I can find the time for it. Sounds like a great movie!

Well I knew you were gonna go see it and I knew it was gonna be dark and creepy so I climbed a tree in wait so I could drop onto the top of your car and bust through one of the windows...
Then I realized you weren't gonna be driving through picayune on your way home... It was probably 4:30 or 5:00 this morning before I climbed back down...:smt105
My back is sore too

Gene Shallot ripped it. Lemme see what the Yahoo reviews has it at currently. It still has a B- from reviewers and a B+ from viewers... 2400 reviews so far. I tend to trust Yahoo viewer reviews to an extent. In my experience, my opinion of a movie closely mirrors those of the other viewers.

Shallot said it was great, if you could forget reality for a bit... like he never runs out of electricity, and gasoline, etc... then this woman appears from no where. He likened it to castaway... except that Smith talks to a dog.

My wife and I are going out this weekend, and it was between Golden Compass and this. I'm still not sure.

I try to see everything Will Smith does. But I old people shouldn't see scary movies. We always poop our pants and never get to see the ending.

Yeah I usually order my tickets online--tried to go to the 10ish show and went to order tickets around 9. Sold out an hour or more before the show. It was packed at 12:20 too.

Conveyor Belt--I thought about Castaway when we were watching it actually, but I don't get all hung up on similarities if it isn't too much of a rip. I go to be entertained, not to analyze really. They are very different movies, but I see that similarity. In a post apocalyptic world, I'd imagine you'd have to talk to something. As for reviews, horror flicks rarely get much credit. I always go by viewer ratings on rottentomatoes.com or something rather than stuffy critics who poo-poo any and all scary movies.

We want to see Golden Compass too, and will for sure. Horror always wins as a first pick though--that's just the way I am! hah I may save Golden Compass and Sweeney Todd for a Xmas double feature! Movies on xmas are awesome!

Heh. I never minded working on xmas when I was young and single. I always volunteered to work xmas as long as I was off on the 24th. Some people choose xmas over New Years(which is more geared to the partying younger crowd). My husband hates all the xmas festivities (not anymore, but did when he was young) and gladly worked just so he could get out of having to spend the day with his family. Takes all kinds, ya know.
Soooo...I don't feel any guilt for going to the theater on xmas.

It was an awesome movie. Went to the 4:40 show on saturday night. will probably go see it again with some other friends soon. As far as the electricity and gas, Shallot must not have seen that the electricity in his house was created with generators and he hand pumped the gas right out of the underground tanks at the gas stations.

Lots of suspence that will keep u on the edge of your seat. Kinda like a mix between castaway and dawn of the dead.

if i had more hands, i'd give it 4 thumbs up :smt023:smt023:smt023:smt023

Just went to see this movie today. I agree it was a good movie, but it had a very sad part in it and this girl a few rows down was crying so loud and then you'd hear her sniffle and cry and sniffle and cry.... I couldn't help but laugh in the saddest part of the movie!

This is a remake of a movie called "The Omega Man" that Charlton Heston did back in the late 60's. How many of y'all knew that?;)

I haven't been to see it but I do remember the Omega Man. In fact I rented it for my step son and he was shocked at the end of the movie when the hero died... He jumped off the couch and looked at me like I did it... I just grinned and said they just don't make movies like that anymore... Funny but even the movies made by Disney back in the day had characters dying off in the movies. Ol Yeller, Bambi's Mother... Us kids were warped by that nonsense back then. Not like the well adjusted kids of today... Seems as i I have a Paul Harvey quote that is appropriate for my sliding OT. So I won't post it...:smt009
But thanks FireFly for reminding me of the Omega Man... That was an awesome movie... I guess the next one they will remake will be Vanishing Point! Or even Billy Jack???
I also tried to give you some Rep but I am repped out tonight...

According to the FAQs of My Hattiesburg (http://www.myhattiesburg.com/wiki/forum/faq)

What is reputation and reputation power?
Reputation has a special meaning here at the My Hattiesburg forums. It not only signifies you make a lot of quality posts on the forums, but can also be a deciding factor in moving you across different groups (giving you more/less privileges). Please consider your decision carefully before adding/subtracting reputation from someone. If a member's reputation gets too low (below -20), they can be banned from the forums. At the top right corner of every member's post, you'll notice a small icon that looks like a scale. This is how you add or subtract reputation from someone by agreeing or disagreeing with their post.
Reputation power is how many reputation points you will give someone when you agree with their post. You will take away half of this amount when you disagree. You gain one more reputation power point in each of these three events:
Every 365 days you have been a member
Every 1000 posts you make
Every 100 reputation points you gain
Not sure how I got ability to give rep but I do have it???

Also Vincent Price had a movie named "The last man on earth" in 1964 before Sir Charles. I have seen all three and Legend is good it does freak you out and is a great movie but Heston was better in his time

Isn't Will Smith in it? I never saw anything he was in that wasn't enjoyable. He should have gotten an oscar for Bagger Vance. I'm in a quandry about I am Legend. I see every Will Smith movie but won't go to a scary movie. Old men crap themselves when they get scared. It's just not attractive.:smt086

Yes Will Smith is the star in it. I love his movies also but this one is a different of movie. Almost night of the living dead scary....almost.

I did enjoy this movie. My apoligies to the folks around me when I screamed a few times. And my apoligies to the folks around me for my hubby laughing at me because I screamed a few times.

DixieTreeSlayer, thanks for trying with the rep. I am a dyed-in-the-wool Charlton Heston fan. I even have all of his books & most of them are signed by him! He is the greatest actor-bar none!- to ever grace the silver screen IMO! Unfortunately, he will never make another movie or write another book because he has Alzheimers.:smt009:cry:

I Am Legend, the book came out in 1954 so I think Omega Man might have been based on that story. So, technically the I Am Legend movie isn't a remake of Omega Man since Omega Man was already based on I Am Legend. :)

Remington

There was a movie before Omega Man with Vincent Price called "The Last Man On Earth" and it was a screenplay written by Matheson, who wrote I Am Legend. So there are three movies in all based on the book.....but from some reviews, the current "I Am Legend" movie is the closest to the book.

i kept jumping... it was not what i expected, but it was a really good movie. i did not, however, appreciate all of the people who brought their small children in to get the crap scared out of them. i get that they might not have realized it was going to be that scary, but they should have taken them out of there when they did. i couldn't handle gremlins at that age... :ohnoes:
