Looking out the window right now, the popcorn tree is blooming, while the oak trees are trying to decide whether to drop their leaves or not. I've seen a few azalea blooms around town, just a few here and there. Even the little peach tree I planted this year dropped all its leaves then sprouted some new ones on the top branches.

Their not stupid. They're taking advantage of the warm weather to gin up some energy while they can.

I've had several good conversations with plants. You just have to be in the right frame of mind... but the trees can speak to you if you let them.

Have you been hitting the pipe again CB? :smt103
It is not the plants, it is the weather. Weather is the only thing plants know how to react to. Poor things think it is spring already.

Nah.... I was completely aware the first time it happened, and for each conversation since then.

As for the azaleas, there's a variety that normally re-blooms in the fall. In fact, some I planted at my old house are in bloom now.

WB, my popcorn trees are not blooming...if you are seeing the "kernel" that looks like real popcorn...that IS NOT the bloom. The tree blooms in the spring...the bloom is a long fuzzy looking catapiller looking thing...light green in color and it smells very sweet.
As far as the azaleas there are several varieties that bloom in the fall as well as the spring..then there is the new "Encore" azalea that blooms pretty much year round off and on.
