I was just wondering how many of you folk out there visit our Mississippi casinos and what your viewpoint is concerning them. I love gaming and going to casinos, but I think that I won't make another trip to a Mississippi casino. I think I will leave it up to folks from outside of Mississippi to come and lose their money..

I think they were great before Katrina. I have been a couple of times since and they are just taking peoples money and not paying out much. But I will say that the coast casinos are a whole lot better than Philiadelphia casinos. Any every point, food, gaming, and entertainment.

Instead of trying to expand their gaming ventures into Jackson County, I wish the Choctaws would focus on refurbishing their Neshoba County properties.

We have noticed a drop in the number of promotions we receive from the Pearl River Resort. We've wondered if that has anything to do with the new Choctaw tribal chief taking office. You'd think the PRR would want to continue its marketing efforts in our area now that the Coastal casinos are coming back.

We enjoy going to the Beau Rivage, although pre-Katrina we preferred to visit the Gulfport Grand Casino (now the Island View).

In fact, we drove down to the Coast yesterday and had lunch at the Beau Rivage. While we didn't have any luck ourselves, we saw three people get paid for slot jackpots.

My husband's theory is as more Coastal casino properties open, the slots will get looser.

I like that buffet, though! Might drop a 20 on the way out. Or get my buffet money back.

We don't go very often, but when we do we enjoy them. It's not Vegas or even Reno but still kinda fun.
I hope it expands to the point where it's more like one of those two cities.

We had a good time at the casinos on the coast this summer and came out with more money than we went in with. :)

Frankly it breaks my heart to see the gulf coast now. It never was the same after Camile. You could build bonfires on the beach at night, drive jeeps, whatever. It truly was pristnine. Now it's a freakin' Barnum and Bailey Circus on steroids:smt086

Have you ever been to any of the other casino cities? In comparison our coast is incredibly boring.

(and what beach has allowed driving on it in the past forty years?)

Heh heh heh. That's just it, CD. I was in my prime in 1964 forty THREE years ago. :smt086 Camile came ashore in Aug of 1969 at 200+ mph. Did a couple of million dollars worth of damage because there was nothing there to destroy. :bowrofl:That's an exageration of course. Don't take me literally.

I remember the Coast before Camile too. Camile, though, only completely destroyed a small portion of the coast whereas Katrina took out about the first two blocks of the whole Mississippi coastline. I used to visit a friend that lived in one of those big old houses that's not there anymore. I miss riding '90 enjoying the view, the Gulf on one side and all those beautiful old homes on the other. The view made the trip to the casinos worthwhile. What little I see now being rebuilt along the beach is mostly condos and casinos. There are a few houses being built, but most of them are on stilts. I think I will always miss our old coastline...

Sadly, nothing is forever except our fond memories, eh countrygirl?:smt023

Although I don't go often, I do enjoy the casinos...more so the food venues instead of dropping a wad of cash with the gaming. I am a big spender though...$20.00! That is my limit!! I play the nickel machines with that! :) I am NOT a big gambler...I like a sure thing. I am SURE I will have/keep that $20.00 a little longer IF I don't play! :)

I am glad others can enjoy it IF they like to gamble.
