For those of you that have not seen it yet, Southern Pecan is now available in bottles. I picked up two six-packs from Corner Market over the weekend...yum yum.

I can't say as if I have ever had the pleasure of Southern Pecan Beer...
Hattiesburg wide? Or just in a few select places?

I don't know, I bought the last two six-packs that they had at the Corner Market in Petal. I am sure that the others will have it as well. I kind of like the bottled version better than the draft. It seems to have a bit of a bolder flavor.

Thanks... I will check out the stores around here (picayune) tomorrow...

My apologies, I should have stuck the link in there and saved you the time searching. If you enjoy darker beers, especially nut ales, Southern Pecan will be a real treat. My wife typically will not drink anything darker than a Miller Lite will drink Southern Pecan.

Wrong thread. This needs to be on the Pussification of America.:kekeke: I prefer dark beers, imported beers. I pass on anything "Lite". I can drink tap water at home. Southern Pecan must be a local brewery beer. Heck, can't even get Dixie or Falstaff up here. Nor Jax. (You gotta be 60 years old to even understand that one)

The thread wasn't about pale beers. I was talking about Southern Pecan, brewed by the Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company in Kiln, MS (See links from Dixie Tree Slayer's post). Lazy Magnolia's beers are only available in Mississippi, southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Get your butt down here one of these days and I will be happy to buy you a Southern Pecan so you can experience a "real" beer. :smt023
I do remember Dixie and Falstaff. Dixie used to be the beer of choice during my "wild" days in south Louisiana. My dad worked for Falstaff during the off-season (back in the day when teams would get the players off-season jobs to help make ends meet).

Well it was a long lunch... I got there and they told me they served some liliputian beer by the same people but not the southern pecan... Grrrrrrr
So I sat there and ate my wings and drank my domseticated beer... I tried the other but didn't like it... I consumed massive quantities until it was time to leave... Yes I had a DD in case anyone wants to know or the belly ache...
Anyway I stop at Mickey's quickstop and was telling the girl behind the counter my woes and she said we have some pecan beer! Come on now... Don't bullshit me I tell her... Go get the beer a$$4ole she says... I go get it and anticipate my new found beer from the back door literally...
Tully I am sad to say I just did not like it... I flagged down a lawn man who I knew drank this type of beer... He loved it and I gave him the rest...
So call me a wuss or whatever but I just didn't like it...:smt102
Such is life...:smt023

Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale is better than the peecan beer. Peecan isn't my thing either but I've certainly had worse. But, then again, I like Guinness, and a lot of folks don't.

Why? What's wrong with Mickey's Quickstop? Plenty of beer. Walk in cooler for customers and more beer...:smt023
So why Ford why???

Sorry bout this Dude... But as an astute observer I could not help but notice that this is the frigerator of a single man... Nutrition in the form of readily available hen's apples, Plenty of protein from the beer. You even have a corona in the door. Now had we seen the fridge closed I am sure we would see several coupons for pizzas that you never use you just tell them you have them...
Do you tip the delivery boys when your pizza is delivered?

I have four or five different beers in the trunk. Bootlegged them at Christmas, but haven't tried them yet. I kinda don't like drinking alone. It feels a little alcoholic. :smt105

6 of us need to get together and have a beer tasting party. Each brings a 6 pack. Or we could do 12 with a 6 pack each and have 1/2 a bottle each.
Fun.

We are planning on hitting the store in NOLA on the way home from the game Sunday. The DH has lots of manual labor to do around the house over the christmas break. We need to buy liquid rewards. He always gets a crazy selection. I will post what he gets and his comments. They have great beer at the Whole foods and Dornaqs (sp/)

Corner Market in Hatiesburg has about 1/2 a palate out on the floor. I bought a 6 pack. They're marked '1st run' under the UPC on the side of the bottle.
It's not quite as creamy as the draft version, but still good. I know bottle caps are expensive, but I look forward to the day when they get a custom bottle cap.
A++++. I'm keeping these stocked in my fridge!

I brought back some Fat Tire and a couple of Christmas Ales while in TX. Sad to say, they're almost gone. I don't know what I'm gonna do. Hubby says I'm limited to the trips I make out west. Seeing as I went two weekends in a row, I guess I can't really say much.
Although, one of those weekends was my vacation and the other one was a holiday. The more I think about it, he should make an exception.

I haven`t yet tried the Southern Pecan. My personal favorites are the Newcastle Brown Ale (a black & tan) and Saint Pauli Girl Special Dark. I look forward to trying the Southern Pecan.

Imagine my husband's surprise when he opened the refrigerator tonight and found six bottles of Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan beer.:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:
Yep, I stopped by the Corner Market in Oak Grove/West Hattiesburg/East Bellevue. :-D

That's how I got on Newcastle. K&B was out of SP, and said try Newcastle. And then, I could buy Newcastle in a bottle, no need to go to K&B...

I'll surely try a Southern Pecan when I get down there next year. Anybody remember Stroh's Fire Brewed? I had one one time and kept thinking, this "new" beer, I've had before. Couldn't figure out why I'd had one before. It was FALSTAFF in a different bottle with a different name! It wasn't really but it tasted exactly like Falstaff. Probably why it didn't last long either.
If you were in Sout Louziana you should know about JAX. The Fabachers owned it. It's across from St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square. It's a mall now.

I have enough gumption to admit that I'm not man enough to drink Guinness. I had to cut that chit with vodka just to get it down.:smt023

I love Guinness! Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout and Nut Brown Ale are my favorites though. Bass is good too. Now that I can get the Sam Smith in H'burg, I may become an alky.
I can't touch American beer right now. Not sure why, but it just won't go down.

I'll give 'um a try. But I don't care for domestic beer that much either. Shinner Bock is the exception. I like it a lot.

We have a wine and beer specialty place here in Greenville that must have 100 or more different beers from all over the world. I tried a couple of beers from Munich, Germany. Wow. Made Guinness seem like tap water. I couldn't finish one beer. Chit hit my stomach like swallowing a medicine ball.
