I got a fryer for Christmas and a cool chopper thingy!
(did I mention I'm not very domestically inclined?)
...at any rate...I'm very happy to be making tostones. I'm not sure how they will travel--so I'm gonna make a "trial batch" this afternoon...(so sad...)
Thought it would be fun to heare if anyone else has a "signature dish" they like to make?

I guess my tried-and-true "specialty" is broccoli bread. Another frequently requested side dish is my Green Bean Casserole because it is different than the norm.

Italian Fish Stew, made with a firm white fish, shrimp, mussels, crab, oysters. I make the "lazy-man's" version so people don't have to peel shrimp and pick crabs, etc.

I also do a sausage bread that people love.

Supposedly part of the appeal is eating it with your hands. :-D I don't like to get my fingers dirty, can't stand things under my nails, so I go ahead and make everything easy for folks...although I do leave the mussels and clams intact.

Hey Chichi
Welcome back!!! Share the recipe with us. All I could see was the pic and it looked yummy.
I love to cook but I keep it simple during the holidays. Usually, I just cook the day of an event and eat like crazy and leave all the leftovers where ever I go...LOL
I have a sinful delicious chocolate caramel with toasted pecans cheesecake that I make from scratch and I haven't made it in 8 years.
My fave food is the salty, cheesy, creamy dishes.

I'm so sad!!! I couldn't find good plantains...
They had a fire at walmart and the ones at the corner market were just crappy looking!:(

They are fried green plantains.
I make a green sauce (called mojito--of all things) to dip em in...
I learned to make them in the Dominican Republic.

I've got everything to make Fuzzi's Carnitas for the family Thursday night, except I forgot to get oranges. Well, tomorrow. Plan to serve them with black beans & red peppers, sauted with a little onion and cilantro.
And the fish stew looks like cippino. (not spelled right but fabulous.)

In SC we have Cat Fish Stew but any fish is used. It's thick instead of thin and has a tomato base. Peppery hot and served over white rice. I love it.

You can certainly buy it. It's really easy, though.
2 avocados
1/2 red onion chopped
2 jalepeno peppers (chopped and seeded)
handful of cilantro
couple of splashes of lime juice
bit of salt
bit of pepper
chopped tomatoes if you like (I don't like)
mash avocado with fork. Add onion, cilantro, lime juice, salt, pepper. Mash/stir some more. Taste. Decide if you need to add anything. Start adding peppers. Taste to measure heat.
Cover and refrigerate. Add tomato before serving.
Got it copied. Thanks! :)
