Daughter was watching The Price is Right this morning. She said one of the contestants was a young man from Meridian who was wearing a T-shirt that said something like "it's my 21st birthday and I'm from Mississippi."

Daughter said TPIR host Drew Carey asked the young man "is it true that in Mississippi when you turn 21 you get to marry your cousin?"

Daughter has watched TPIR since she was a little girl, and likes Drew Carey, but she thought his "joke" crossed the line of good taste and just served to reinforce Mississippi stereotypes.

What she probably didn't see was that the back of his shirt actually said something like "now I can marry my cousin".

Everyone knows that you can't marry your cousin, but if you and your wife get a divorce, you can still be brother and sister.:kekeke:

I see... the young man invited the comment.

I'd give Carey a pass on it anyway. The guy's a great guy and was just trying to make light of the guy, which is his job.

If it really said that on the back, I'd give the guy a pass too. Hey, it got him picked out of hundreds to be a contestant.

All southern states and West Virginia have comments like that made about them. It's not just a MS thing.
