Great. I was going to go grocery shopping and then visit mom in Marion County. If I time it right - - I'll probably get to drive in the worst of it. :(

I was planning on doing some shopping & buying groceries this afternoon too. It'll have to wait though, I'm not gonna drag Abigail out in this mess. :smt009
Hopefully it will blow on through the area. If not, someone send a food basket. We'll starve to death...LOL

Great... Just told my daughter and she is hiding under the bed...
Thanks guys... She has always been afraid of bad weather. Me? It makes me hungry... The wind whipping just before the downpour.... Don't know why... But it does...
Lips here is the latest map by the weather channel

Because of work... looking at the radar, by the time I'm heading south on 59 I'll be following in the line of the storm the whole way...

Very fine avatars indeed... But when posting you must not abandon the language of the Louisiana population in the area...
When you go grocery shopping you actually are "making groceries"... Have you forgotten so soon?:smt103:-D

Our avatars ROCK! I cannot wait until the game, on the 7th.
People will hear me screaming in LA.
The win over Tennessee was the BEST thing in the world to me.
I have yet to settle a bet with someone, but will make certain to do so VERY soon...
Ok, emails, etc. are done. I've got to shower and get ready so that when the bad stuff has passed, I can hit H'burg!

Which begs the question why are the Louisiana folks over here now?
I know... You got here as as soon as you could due to the fine folks you have the pleasure of knowing here!!!
I got a couple three Chalmatians that are real good friends. In fact we are going there for the New Years Eve... If it isn't raining I will bring the wood for the bonfire... A whole dump truck load maybe two... All the kiddies will pop about a million dollars worth of firecrackers and sparklers... Well not a million but a whole bunch... They go all out for the festivities... Then when Midnight strikes everyone gives everyone a kiss... WOWEE... Some of them Chalmatians are extremely kissable!!! Ooops... Hope wifee does not read this post....:ohnoes::omg:

I think I might have asked this before, but I don't think I got a response...
It seems like folks down here take tornado warnings and such very seriously--but so few people have basements.
I haven't been through a hurricane, but used to live in tornado alley. Those watches and warnings rarely have much impact on me/northerners in a "practical" way--I guess we just figure if it gets bad enough we will go to the basement...
why don't you have basements down here--and what do you do when there is a serious threat of a tornado???
Dixie Tree Slayer

Basements are difficult in construction due to the water tables being relatively high. Unless they are well thought out and designed they become musty dungeons of dampness and become difficult on the resale... Plus most people want to be on TV with their hair in curlers and describing the sound of the tornader... Which is what Honey is hoping will happen to her... She always wanted to be on TV!!!:laugh:

There are a few basements here in the 'burg, but they are expensive to construct & difficult to maintain. I lived near a guy who had a basement in Gautier, MS. (within 50 yds of the beach, no less) He had a sump pump that ran 24/7 to keep it relatively dry. He called my uncle one day in hysterics & when we got to his house the laundry sink in the basement was shooting water out it's drain 3' in the air.
He ended up filling the basement with rubble & topping it up with concrete so he didn't have to live over an 8' deep pond.
