GARLAND, Texas (AP) -- An essay that won a 6-year-old girl four tickets to a Hannah Montana concert began with the powerful line: "My daddy died this year in Iraq."
A false essay won a 6-year-old girl four tickets to a sold-out Hannah Montana concert.
While gripping, it wasn't true -- and now the girl may lose her tickets after her mom acknowledged to contest organizers it was all a lie.
The sponsor of the contest was Club Libby Lu, a Chicago-based store that sells clothes, accessories and games intended for young girls.
The saga began Friday with company officials surprising the girl at a Club Libby Lu at a mall in suburban Garland, northeast of Dallas. The girl won a makeover that included a blonde Hannah Montana wig, as well as the grand prize: airfare for four to Albany, New York, and four tickets to the sold-out Hannah Montana concert on January 9.
The mother had told company officials that the girl's father died April 17 in a roadside bombing in Iraq, company spokeswoman Robyn Caulfield said.
"We did the essay and that's what we did to win," Priscilla Ceballos, the mother, said in an interview with Dallas TV station KDFW. "We did whatever we could do to win."
Wow. I see a bright future for this girl while in her mother's care.

Did you read the last few lines of the quoted portion of the article? The mom was all in this one. I'm sure the mother was the one who had the idea.

It still doesn't say they're going to have to give the tickets back.
I think they should, or at least find some Hannah Montana fan who's daddy really was killed in Iraq.

They never received the tickets. They were busted way before that happened. GMA said this morning that the tickets and the trip had been given to another little girl in the Dallas area.

I read somewhere that the mother was quoted as saying they did what they had to do to win.
Did what they had to do to win. How pathetic.

Yet another testament to the fact that some children do not have good examples set forth by their own parents.

maybe they will think twice now about telling a big ol lie

I was just glad to see that they their lie didn't work. Now how is this mom going to tell her child that lying is wrong - - when she helped her orchestrate such a doozy as this one.

But then we would have a bunch of orphans running around - - since most parents would join up to avoid the dreaded HM. :smt118

Here's a better idea! The CIA could use Hannah Montana music, and even re-runs of the show, as the new torture technique. I thought I would avoid HM since I have two boys, but noooooooooooo.....boy's like her too. :smt009

The kid needs her little ass beat. The mother, on the other hand, just needs to be beaten. The thought of someone pulling crap like that when there are so many children that are without out parents, or have parents that have been horribly injured in Iraq, and around the world, is horrible!
People like this make my freakin' stomach turn!

I swear! Seeing his hair, or Keith Urban's, makes me want to run by them some shampoo and soap. It looks so nasty!

Yeah, the 6 year old didn't come up with this on her own. This reeks of the mom.

SO, where is her dad?
Well, if it was her mother's idea, you're right. A child being instructed to do soemething like this by a parent is insane. God help us if this is what the country is coming, and apparently it is. Thank goodness the tickets went to someone deserving.

rotten mother just rotten for doing what she did
now if they had made the story up for another kid whom did have a parent killed and had planned to take them to the concert that would be ok but this is just horrible I would love to just witch slap her (minus the w add a b)

To scare the crap out of the mother, the kid should be taken from her for a few days.

She looked like an illegal to me.

Probably was an illegal. Thinking that they're entitled to free free free everything! I think that charges shopuld be brought against the mother for fraud! What she did was despicable! Does she even have a husband??? And if so, is he serving over in Iraq??? She should be very afraid that something bad might happen to him because she told people that he was dead!:ohnoes:

I saw the mother on the Today Show. I think she used the same pencil she used in writing the fake essay to pencil in her eyebrows.
And actually uses it on her lips...
Note to self: NEVER shave off my eyebrows and draw them on.
Sorry about the multi-quote but....

WFT think's that's attractive?
Luvia
01-04-2008, 10:08 PM
WHY do people DO THAT?????
Why? Why?
Who thinks that looks good? Who looks in the mirror and thinks that enhances their looks? Maybe she should shave her head and draw her hair on too.
These kinds of things bother me way more than they should. Seriously. I think it is because it *HAS* to be a sign of some sort of mental disease...something.
