Suspect survives 200-foot jump off Coronado bridge (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-coronado2jan02,0,7052627.story?coll=la-home-local)
The man being chased by authorities grabbed a police dog and leaped off the bridge. The fall killed the dog.
..."The dog actually took the driver to the ground and then he actually lifted the dog up and jumped over the side," CHP Sgt. Steven Toth said.
The man was rescued from the water and taken to a hospital, Toth said. His condition was not released. An after-hours call to a hospital representative was not immediately returned.
The dog was recovered from the water, Toth said.
Idiot.

The long arm of the Law needs to "handle him" as my dear Mama used to say! They need to lock him up & throw away the key for killing that dog!:smt086

They probably will. He will probably be charged with murder. That is sooooo very sad. I hope they throw the book and everything else they can to him. Locking him up is too good from him. He needs to work everyday for his food and board. Today we are too nice to these felons in prison, true some only get 1 hour out of their cells. But others get just about everything we have at home; tv, books, and a lot of amendities they dont deserve.

I would think since it was a police dog that he would be charged in the death of the dog.
That is terrible for the dog handler and the dept. to lose an officer like that.

I know it is "ugly" and God forgive me but damn...it should have been the crook to croak and not the dog!
I too would think they would charge him with the death of the dog. I feel sorry for the handler. Actually it is surprising to me that he got a hold on the dog to pick him up in the first place...I would have imagined the dog would have bit the mess out of him...most police dogs don't let stangers handle them in any kind of way unless they have a muzzle on them.
