It's official. (http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20169794,00.html)

The Golden Globe Awards have become a victim of the writers' strike.

Organizers said Monday they’ve officially abandoned the televised formal ceremony this Sunday and will replace it with a press conference announcement of the winners.

"We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favorite stars celebrating 2007's outstanding achievements in motion pictures and television," Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Jorge Camara said. "We take some comfort, however, in knowing that this year's Golden Globe Award recipients will be announced on the date originally scheduled."

Not only are the writers not working, canceling the Golden Globes will mean that stylists, hairdressers, makeup artists, etc., will lose out on income they no doubt count on.

I think I speak for the majority when I say:

You're right, Kitty. And it is those people that I feel sorry for the most. Not the overpaid actors. It's really too bad things have come to this. I am really ticked that all of my favorite primetime shows are affected by this strike :smt009

Darn. We can't watch a bunch of beautiful rich people pat themselves on the back for three hours and win prizes that will do nothing but allow them to command higher salaries?

You're right. I saw the promo on ABC today. How depressing. Only one more. With our luck, they will come back just in time to take their summer break and then they won't be back until friggin late September again

I wonder how many people actually know there is a writer's strike.

I wonder how many people actually know there is a writer's strike.Who needs writers? If the actors are good enough they can just act like somebody wrote a script.

A couple more weeks and I won't care about the writers strikes once Lost returns.
Then next month the other greatest show ever returns, Battlestar Galactica.
The Sara Conner Chronicles looks pretty decent too.
