My family and I are relocating from Huntsville, AL to Hattiesburg this spring!

My kids are stressing about leaving their tournament baseball/softball teams back in Huntsville. I have been searching online for contact information regarding youth baseball/softball but I have found anything! Can anyone provide any good links or contacts?

12 yr boy, 9 yr girl and 7 yr boy (all played travel/tournament ball last spring and fall)

Thanks!

Howdy!

I know that some of the people on here are big into baseball and softball. I'm sure that they'll chime in soon on this.

Welcome to My Hattiesburg.

I know there is a Dixie Baseball group.

Call Hattiesburg City Chamber of Commerce or Hattiesburg Recreation.

May be a bit warmer here than Huntsville.

Hi Tom... Welcome to the site and welcome to the Hattiesburg area. Yes there is plenty of baseball for everyone to get their fix. Some teams play year round. My brother has two kids and his daughter played on regular sponsored league and then she played on a nothing but tournaments team... I will see if I can find anything about it from my brother...

Happy New Year! Start your year right with baseball. Hattiesburg Dixie Youth Online registration is now open. Please take 10 minutes to sign-up. If you have any questions contact Pam Shows at pamshows@bellsouth.net. Her contact number is 601-579-9859. This year registration fees will remain the same as last year. Teams are picked in early Feb so players must register in Jan.

To register go to www.hdyb.net (http://www.hdyb.net) and click on the "Online Forms" menu.
If you would like to coach or volunteer be sure to list it on your player's registration form.
Help get the word out to everyone especially the pre-school age kids.
REGISTER TODAY!
I would think if you were to call the contact number they could help you better with the tournament teams since they are on both. They also might point you to a league in the Oak Grove area that would be closer... Although Tatum Park isn't a bad drive from OG...
Good luck finding what you need!!

Good afternoon, Tomray1. Glad to see you found us here. It's a great place. I don't know anything about sports other than I throw like a girl and don't throw anything back at me because I will not catch it. Click the new post button on the task bar to find the latest post. You will find the casino on that line too. Don't be afraid to look around. I clicked on everything in this place when I got here and nothing exploded. Oak Grove is a great place to live as is Petal. You will find good folks in both areas. Stay away from the casino and Scarlett. Oh and DTS. He's bad news any way you look at it. If you got a question just ask someone here will have the anwser. Have fun and we are here to help.

Gee thanks, Honey..............soiling my precious reputation and all.............Tomray, someone at one of the schools can probably give you some information and I think Temple Baptist Church has a league, I know they have basketball for kids. The Optimist Park is the name of the baseball fields but I don't know how to get in touch with them (maybe Barry or Perry Doleac.............it's one of the Doleac brothers..........he can tell you which one!)

Hi Tomray,

The Oak Grove Optimist Park has girl's fast pitch and boy's baseball. Their league is Cal Ripkin ball. They do allow duel participation for tournament ball. The Doleac brothers were H,burg league. Oak Grove Optimist is run by an all volunteer board. The pres. is Lee Roberts. Toby Brown is in charge of baseball and registration is coming up soon. The first registration is Saturday.

Not much of an authority, more like a personal driver, chef, and financer of the participants.

HI Tomray welcome to Hattiesburg and to Myhattiesburg.com. I was born in Huntsville and moved here when I was 4. We love this area. It is growing by leaps and bounds. I am sure that you and your family will find all kinds of sports for your children to get into. Oak Grove, Petal and Hattiesburg have excellent schools and sports. Hope you find what you are looking for and good luck on the move.

Larry Doleac or the Hattiesburg Recreation Department will direct you in the right direction. Larry would probably be the best help though.

Larry is the Hattiesburg League, if that is where you decide to play. Depending on where you move, the Hattiesburg or Oak Grove programs are good.

You said you were moving to Oak Grove so I listed the appropriate names and numbers. Larry Doleac has nothing to do with Oak Grove ball.

I was going to post in the sports forum, but it won't let me. I guess I have to wait until I get 20 posts?

Anyway, does anyone know anything about the MVP Baseball sports academy? I went looking for it this week while we were house hunting but I couldn't find it.

Tomray, I do know about MVP and they provide quality pitching, hitting, and catching lessons. They use former pro and college players. PM me for more info as they as "in between" locations right now.
