View Full Version : Struck by a thief

Well, this just has me furious. The house I have for sale had a nice wreath on the carport. Apparently somebody decided they liked it a lot, and when they took it down, lo and behold, that was where a workman had hid an extra key (unbeknownst to me.) His bad, my bad for not checking back with him. So this person used the key, went into the house, stole all the silk arrangements we left and stole a beautiful never-used set of towels in the guest bath. So, if you know somebody who's suddenly acquired an oval grapevine wreath with mostly yellow, orange, and white flowers, an arrangement of gold asters in a basket, a tall green arrangement, a green silk vine in a hanging basket, and two sets of green towels with leaves embroidered on them, guess what -- THEY'RE MINE!!
The very weirdest part is that they locked the door back and left the key under the mat -- I saw the edge of it sticking out when I was there while ago. However, they or somebody had left the back door wide open. (I know about the key being in the wreath because I called the workman.)
And is it just me, or don't you think this had to be a woman? What man would steal silk flowers and bath towels??

GRRRRRR!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Hermoine. Anyone who has to steal is so low. I imagine they will have to live with invading your home and it'll catch up with the eventually.

Ah, Hermione, I'm so sorry. But I guess you should be a little happy that you had a courteous thief. A real mischievous one could have torn the place up. :(

Amandah is right, it could have been much, much worse. Does sound like a woman, though..............a man would have wiped his muddy paws on those new towels!!

This is true! And I am very, very grateful they didn't. The things that were taken weren't worth a lot of money, it's just that sense of being invaded and somebody taking ANYTHING of yours that's so miserable.

Absolutely. Maybe they will develop an allergy to cotton and artificial plants, break out in hives, and look like they are from another planet. They'll get theirs Ms. H, don't fear.

How terrible, Hermione, to be a victim of theft.

Speaking from personal experience, it is such a feeling of violation to have someone "enter your space" and steal from you.

Did you file a police report?

Hermoine, PLEASE make sure to call the police and make a report. Probably not much they can do BUT they do need to know about it and make a report. They will have officers check the area more often...

The p.d. will not know they have a problem in the area unless you call them!

Sorry Hermione... it sucks when something is stolen, and it also feels like such a personal violation.

I am so sorry to hear that, Hermione! MD is right--you need to file a police report so that the HPD will know that there is a problem of theft in that area. The person that did the dirty deed will lose something worth ten fold what they stole from you! It will come back to bite them in the @ss! There is nothing lower than a thief, in my book! Theft of any kind makes me very mad! I know that feeling of being violated because many years ago, I had my apartment broken into while me & the X went to see Star Wars. It really creeped me out & I had nightmares for quite awhile!:ohnoes:

I am sooo sorry Hermione. I know u feel violated. I agree with everyone else. You need to report this even though the police probably wont be able to do anything about it at least they will know it has happened.

I didn't file a police report because they had a key. Is it still breaking and entering if you have a key? I'm pretty un-informed about this sort of thing.

I would think so. You didnt give them premission to use that key of yours. I would call it in the police can make that decision.

YES, go ahead and file a report...you didn't give them permission to enter nor did you know a key was there. Make sure you tell the officers you didn't know the workman had left the key. Ask them to do a lite check on the property. You may want to change the locks. IF they happened to make themselves a key, they can go back in, have one hell of a party, trash the place and you are s.o.l. I have also seen people take a key, go in and steal appliances and even the damn toilet....also people will enter an empty house and tear out walls to get to the wiring...they can sell it on the black market for a pretty penny and use the proceeds to buy crack rock. Not trying to scare you...just want you to know it is not something to sneeze at sometimes. I have seen this very thing happen on several occassions.

I am so sorry to hear that someone invaded your domecile. Your home is indeed your castle and I know that such a violation would leave me feeling very violated even if the monetary cost of the stolen items was low. May they reap their just rewards.
