Ms. Fix-It (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120001596712982785.html?mod=taste_primary_hs)

...If you think about it, while the pinking of home improvement is new, it's not all that radical. Keep in mind that women are not trying to join the construction trades in any great numbers. Women make up at least half of the country's medical and law students, yet they still constitute fewer than 3% of construction workers; blue-collar sexual discrimination can't fully explain these discrepancies.

No, the pink-hammer brigade is less interested in expanding career opportunities for women than in enlarging the traditional art of homemaking. Not so long ago, custom limited women's activities in that area to cleaning, sewing, cooking and perhaps a few crafts projects for those with extra time on their hands. Installing smoke alarms and reconfiguring a closet are simply an extension of the old domestic urge. That helps explain why single women are twice as likely to buy homes than single men, despite having considerably lower median incomes. According to Fannie Mae, the number of single female homeowners will soon almost double, to 31 million by 2010 from today's 17 million -- at least that was the prediction before the recent mortgage meltdown. It seems that you can take women out of the kitchen and nursery, but you can't take them out of the nest....

I hate being a member of the pink-hammer brigade. :smt086 I don't even have a pink hammer.

Speaking of "Ms Fix-It"...Imma have to get my drill out tomorrow and fix a little problem. Actually, I'm probably going to have to get it out tonight to make sure that I remember how everything works. I know there's a drill bit in it, so that's good because I'm going to have to drill a couple of pilot holes. Then Imma need to change that out and put the screw-head (:kekeke:) thingie it it so I can actually screw (:kekeke:) the screws (:kekeke:).

I'm pretty sure there's a chuck (is that what it's called?) attached to the cord.

My drill isn't even pink. It's a gross old one my Sner's boy gave me. :(

I am proud of my pink hammer and my pink 120 pc tool kit. Although most of it has been lost (that's another story entirely) I did request a new "pink" tool kit for Christmas a couple of years ago.

And I got it, though it's more red than pink, DH knows that I better not, and I repeat NOT find any red handled tools lying around. Unless, of course, I laid it there. Now, I might add, I'm very good about, if I take it out and use it, I put it right back.

There is nothing worse than needing a hammer or a pair of pliers and not being able to put your hands on it or if you do find one it's dirty or greasy. Hence my red/pink tool kit. It's mine, all mine!!!

is it holding together nicely, Fuzz?? you could get puppy to jump on the bed and see if it handles her weight. I say that because she would jump off if bed moved. Hope it all works out for you.

I've been too scared to try it. :ohnoes: I suppose we'll find out in a few moments. I have a little writing to finish and then I'm going to bed. It should work, though. Everything feels pretty solid. :smt118
