Here is the HA article. (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080114/NEWS01/80114021)
BROOKLYN – The Forrest County Agricultural High School Board of Trustees has announced the hiring of Elizabeth Yankay as its new superintendent of education to replace Kyle Nobles, who will resign effective June 30.
Yankay, formerly of Sulphur, La., received her bachelor’s degree in vocational home economics education from Louisiana State University and her master’s and doctorate’s degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Has anyone ever heard of her?

They had a great superintendent and principal there already. Good luck to Mrs. Yankay in dealing with Czar Clay and her puppet regime.

Czar Clay is no longer in office....but her regime will probably live on for a while to come.

The "czar" comment begs this question:
Does the Forrest County superintendent have more influence over the operations at FCAHS other than holding a seat on the board of trustees?

Kay Clay is still on the FCAHS school board isn't she?
She never was a superintendent over FCAHS. She was superintendent over Forrest County Schools until she decided not to run for re-election last year.

I was referring to her position as F.County Supt., not FCAHS Board member.....however, I thought her role on the Board at FCAHS was directly related to her POSITION as Supt. of F.County....which she no longer is in that elected position, so I would assume the NEW supt. now holds that spot on the Board, not Kay Clay.....but CLAY'S influence over current Board members and over the new supt. may very well still be evident. Let's hope not...let's hope they will be their own persons and think and act for themselves.

What is the make up of the FCAHS board of trustees?
By that I mean who are the current members?

It does when the FC Superintendent is Kay Clay. Take a look at the board. The board president is her brother-in-law and another member is the husband of one of the assistant principals at a Forrest County school. That is what, three out of five votes?
So yes, I would say that her control was extreme.

Eddie Grimsley (the bro- in law), Charlie Sims (Elizabeth Sims' husband), Ruth Grant, Corey Sumrall, Bobby Spears and now Debbie Burt.
Guess there are six rather than five.

there you go....someone knows what I'm talking about. Clay may not be in charge, but she's in charge.

Nothing against Mr. Swan at all, but I really don't think it matters much who they get so long as the majority of the school board members have no experience as educators. Perhaps that is one of the reasons Mr. Swan did not apply for the position (but I really have no idea what his reasons were).

His reasons were probably related to that whole challenge he's taken on with the Jeff Davis School District (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071215/NEWS01/712150302/-1/PREPSSPORTS).

Yeah, I had that in mind as well, but the FCAHS position was known to be open before he took that position. Of course, the timing may have been such that he had to make a decision on Jeff Davis before he would have heard anything back from FCAHS. Like I said, I really don't know what his reasons were but I know that not too many people were interested in that FCAHS position.
In any case, best of luck to Mr. Swan with straightening out Jeff Davis. I know I would not want that burden.

BTW, my understanding is that Clay is still in the FC superintendent's office as a "consultant."
