Oprah is trying to help Mississippians slim down

On today's show, Oprah is in Mississippi, the most obese state in the USA, with her BestLife trainer Bob Greene.

Her goal? To help Mississippians slim down.

You know, I think I read something about this in a recent issue of People Magazine. They introduced all of the people and talked about the six-month challenge. They said the reason why they chose MS is because it's the fattest state.

That's not why I don't like Oprah...I don't know about these other folks. Did ya see the show where she expressed how she just could NOT sleep in her bed unless there were "freshley ironed, crisp sheets" on her bed?

She then went on about how she buys the most expensive sheets made...talking to the audience as if that's a common thing. It seriously made me want to vomit.

But she has earned every penny she has made and if she wants to sleep on expensive sheets, well, she has every right to. Plus she gives crap away all the time. She gave all those cars away on her show that time remember? I say If you earn it, you can spend it how you want to. Bill Gates has a house that the floors automatically adjust to the persons body temp. That seems a bit over the top, but he also built a company from the ground up and is now a billionaire. He too, gives enormous amounts of $$$ to charity. They are examples of the American dream and I have great respect for people who use the opportunities in this country to make a better life for themselves and their families.

It's like rubbing their noses in the fact she's a millionare as if they didn't know already. Her being successful in life is a great thing....has nothing to do with why I don't care for her.

I appreciate that she gives some of her money to the poor and less fortunate but I agree, she really shouldn't flaunt it and make others feel inferior because they can't do the same thing..it is kindda not classy if you know what I mean.

I would imagine she has slept in/on worse things than unironed crisp sheets in her lifetime...she hasn't "always" been rich...maybe she needs to remember her roots and how it "used to be."

I personally don't care for Oprah, but that's just because I never got in to watching her show... BUT, I know there are a lot of people around that have a great deal of respect for her, for whatever reasons.... so hopefully, maybe Oprah can create some sort of weight loss initiative... whatever works is fine with me.

Just heard on NPR that Oprah is getting her own television network. To go by the moniker "OWN". The Oprah Winfrey Network.

I don't like her because she never shuts up. She may have guests on her shows, but very few of them get to speak a whole lot.

I don't watch her show either but obviously millions do. How long as she been on the air now? People love her and what she has to say enough to have made her one of the wealthiest people in the country. I can't really find anything to bust on her about. (Not looking for anything either). She has had a lot of experience with the struggles of losing weight, so I think she certainly knows enough to at least impart some wisdom to others struggling with it. GO Oprah!
