It's as simple as this, I love Brett!!

Here's my story -

I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I've got green and gold blood running through my veins (and a tattoo of a Packers helmet on my right ankle). My family has had season tickets for nearly 50 years. I grew up in the 1980s when the Packers sucked, yet we still went to a sold-out Lambeau field to watch the Packers play.

I was a pretty big fan as a little girl, but I am an even bigger fan since I've gotten older. The addition of Brett Favre to the Packers has been a godsend to Wisconsin. I hear many times of Brett talking about how the Packers were the one to give him a chance and believed in him and his talent when most other teams did not. He has brought so much to the sport....I could go on forever.

I just love the Packers. Always have. Always will. And when they make it to the Superbowl this year, I will be one of the happiest people on the planet! LOL

And if you want to get your hands on this issue, try your newsstands tomorrow (Wednesday):

First there was Brett Favre as SI's "Sportsman of the Year," a cover that quickly became a collectible item in Wisconsin. Now, on the newsstands tomorrow, is Brett Favre as snowman of the year.

To me, the Packers are what the NFL should be all about.

They may not be the glitziest franchise, but they have tremendously loyal fans.

I've always liked the Packers, but I really started following them when Brett joined the team.

My favorite thing about this season has been the Packers' success with a very young and inexperienced team.

No one expected the Packers to get this far with a young and inexperienced team, yet they are one win away from the Super Bowl.

IMO, that really shows what kind of leader Brett is. He has rallied the young 'uns!

My favorite thing about the Packers this year is that they are winning.

I'm not really a fan of any team. I like to watch the Saints lose, and the Cowboys lose. I like to watch the Packers, Bears and Colts win.

Let's see...I was at Brett's first game at USM when he rallied them to a come from behind victory over Tulane as a Freshman. We used to run into one another at parties in college. I thought at the time that he was a bit snobbish, but later came to find that he was just a bit shy. Had I known then what I know now I would've gotten his autograph. Anyway, as I do with all USM players who go pro, I followed his career and was happy to claim him whenever he began to have success. I was watching when Don Majkowski went down and Brett came in to win that game (reminiscent of the Tulane game). He started the next week and hasn't missed a game since. Interestingly, I was in Green Bay watching his second SuperBowl while it was being played in San Diego. I've enjoyed seeeing him grow as a person through all the ups and downs and over time, earning the respect and admiration of peers and fans. His work ethic and common man approach to the game, and to life in general seems to fit well in Green Bay.

Oh, this was supposed to be about the Packers, eh?

I'd have to second what Kitty said; To me, the Packers are what the NFL should be all about.

They may not be the glitziest franchise, but they have tremendously loyal fans.
What better place for Favre to have played? Except for the weather, Green Bay reminded me alot of Hattiesburg.

They have always had a Special place in my heart being the smallest market to have a Major sports team. The Title town tradition and the loved ones I have from the State all play a part. Then there's the Brett Farve Factor. Green Bay Packers, cold, hard hitting, great fans, good food,Coach Vince etc,etc......

I'm just a big Football Fan.. Its breaking my heart that there is only 3 games left and football season is over.

I have been a Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packer fan all my life. I will never forget being in Milwaukee WI going to a Bon Jovi concert and I had on a USM Sweat Shirt this guy comes up to me and said Hey isnt that where Brett Favre played football? Kinda shocked me that he knew that.

I was able to experience a trip to Lambeau Field back in 2002 (Thanks Virgo) something that I will never forget being there in 20 degree weather with not an empty seat in the stadium from kick off until the last horn sounded. Packers beat Buffalo 12-0..

Brett Favre has been through so much in his life and he still amazes me how he keeps his life in order. You never hear or see him act like the other superstars of the NFL. When he in interviwed not the fancy suits, shades, jewelery etc.. He wears a tshirt with a ball cap and not shaven.. I just like how he handles himself on and off the field.

I was listening to FOX sports radio today and they were talking with a player from the packers and asked him what is something that sticks out this year that Brett Favre has done this year. He said they were in the huddle playing against Kansas City and brett was talking about the play and all of sudden he Farts in the huddle. Brett looked around and said I wonder if the other team smelled it?

I've probably been a Packer fan longer than anyone here. I go back to Jim Taylor, Max Magee, Fuzzy Thurston and Bart Starr. It was Vince Lombardy I loved most. I watched from Super Bowl I forward. But my memory about many of the details and some of the really great players fail me now. Old age is hell.

Yup - you are barely older than I am - thus you may go back farther than I do as a Packer Backer. I love your list of favorites, but you left two of mine off. Linebacker Ray Nitschke and my all time favorite (yes even above Favre) - Jerry Kramer. I wore #64 when I played right guard in high school, our coach was a former collegiate coach and we were the first high school in the area to use pulling guards. We actually had plays named GB right & GB left! I took great pride in knocking a defensive player on their butt while leading our running back around the corner! I also did the place kicking as Kramer did for a few years in the early 60's. I later wore #64 while playing guard and kicking for Zweibrucken Air Base (Germany) for 2 years in the Continental Sports Conference.

Thanks for stirring the memories for an old man!

No, thank YOU. I know all those guys but my memory won't get me to the front door anymore. There's the "Golden Boy" and I can't remember his name. Ran in the same backfield with Tayor. Taylor was my favorite of all. He was fearless. LSU has another that reminds me of Jim Taylor. Running back named Jacob Hester.

Of course. That's him. I hate losing my memory.:( I looked it up. Here are some wonderful names from Super Bowl 1 (GB-35, KC-10)
Elijah Pitts, Donnie Anderson, Don Chandler, Herb Adderly, Lionel Aldridge, Lee Roy Caffey, Forrest Gregg, Willie Davis, Jerry Kramer, Willie Wood, Boyd Dowler, Caroll Dale, Marv Fleming. 1965 had most of these plus Taylor and Hornung. Donnie Anderson was supposed to be the next great Hornung, but it never happened. I think he got hurt but you never hear his name, huh? Who was greater than Hornung on the field or with the women. Heh heh heh.

I hate the freakin Packers. I grew up in Gary IN, about 9 miles from the Illinois state line. In that part of the country there is but one team DA BEARS! Brett has murdered us for most of his career. I rooted against them way before Farve left Hancock county and will root against them next season.

But, when the playoffs start and Da Bears are not in and the Packers, Lions or Minnesota are in I have to pull for the teams from the old Norris division, football = the NFC North. So come on you freakin cheeseheads win two more and come the pre-season I'll hate your guts again. How can anyone wear anything green?

Ok here is my Packer story. I was NOT a fan until this year. I have a Brett story that goes back many years. When he was at USM (and I in my senior or junior year of high school) one night at Ropers he was very drunk and stood on the bar and peed all over the place most of it went on me and my friends. He got kicked out of Ropers. (most people only heard about him getting kicked out of Ropers) So I have not been a fan of his for many years. My mom is a HUGE fan and so this year she got a couple of his books 10 to 4, and a big book with the helmet and 4 on the cover. I started reading the big book one afternoon out of boredom and decided that he wasnt a bad person. He just had a few years at USM were he was kind of a jerk and intoxicated a lot. So I decided to let bygones be bygones and to support him. I support Eli and Payton so why not Brett. It was really funny to me when I sat down and really thought about it. I am not that much different from Brett. I had some really wild college years and now that I am older I am settled down more. So I am starting this year off as a Packer fan. I even beted 6750 hub bucks on the game. So GO PACKERS!!!!! Plus I really want them to go to the Super Bowl before Brett retires, not that thats going to happen this year but it will one day, and he needs to go out on top. So good luck tomorrow.

Never been a Packer fan. Never been much of a Favre fan. Too many stories of his "Don't you know who I am?" attitude.

The story about him getting beat down at a bar (Ropers, IIRC) while his teammates looked on was a longtime favorite of mine, though.

Saw Brett and the Mrs at Mike Anderson's a couple years ago. She looked absolutely infuriated, but was maintaining since they were in public.
I have no idea what their dinner conversation was, but she had that look on her face like she caught him screwing around again. Purely speculation on my part. But if you've ever seen that look on a woman's face, it's hard to forget it.

Anyway, as they left the dining area, Brett paused, turned and did a little Queen Elizabeth wave. I swear, I wanted to throw a shrimp at the dude.

In any event, here's to Eli following in big brother's footsteps by carrying his team to the big dance.
