I love monster movies. Loved 'em as a kid and love 'em as an adult. Hell I was one of the few that enjoyed Godzilla '98. The goal is to go see Cloverfield this weekend (hopefully)
Anybody else planning on seeing this?

In a sense. Yes it's a monster movie (like Godzilla) and it's shot entirely on "video" (Like Blair Witch)
The reviews I've read though said it's edited well and there isn't a lot of shaky camera work. So far, it's getting great reviews from fans. (Fans, not critics. It wasn't screened for critics but only because they want to keep the movie as much a secret as possible)

My spouse-type-critter and his brother are going tonight, they hope. I'm just not in the mood for a moster movie right now.

This movie has me so curious... I've went online and can't figure it out. I really want to see it. It'll either be fantastic or crappy (Blair Witch).

There are plenty of spoiler sites out there that tell the complete story line.

Here's the spoiler:

Big monster comes out of nowhere and starts detroying shit. Little insect like creatures shed off monster and eat people. Group of people try to go to save guy's girlfriend who's stuck in a building that has been toppled over and is leaning against another building. NY is starting to be evacuated by army. They all get in a chopper, but chopper goes down in Central Park. Army nukes NYC to destroy monster and all that's left are the home videos people made during the crisis. roll credits

That's what I read on a spoiler site.

We were going to last night, but I am a total baby about being cold. We went out to dinner and I just wanted to be home with some hot cocoa.

I was a little worried about the roads being too icy too, so we played it safe.

Hopefully we'll see it tonight or tomorrow.

AMAZING movie!
If you get motion sickness from watching things don't go see it. There are a lot of shaky camera scenes. However, I felt like I was on the run with these kids the entire time. Loads of scares and thrills. One of my favorite movies of all time.

It wasn't in the theater. Perfectly comfortable. I sat in there for about thirty minutes before the movie started and could have easily drifted off into a blissful nap.

I think that's worrying me too. Sadly, I can't even play FPS games without feeling nauseated. That in itself--having to limit my gaming--is just like...disabling, I tell ya. My vestibular system is my enemy.

My vestibular system is my enemy.Hmmm...that's too bad. There are a lot of running with the camera scenes. Actually, probably my only complaint is I think they went too far making sure we knew it was all shot on video. I think the average videographer would have held a camera a little more steady in many of the scenes that were in the movie.

Someone on the radio was talking about the movie and how people were throwing up during it b/c of the motion. They advised taking some Dramamine before attending the show.

That was my hubby's biggest complaint with the movie. He was wondering why on earth someone would buy a camera without the "steady cam" (or what ever its cause) feature.

He did. He said it was really good (in his opinion). He kinda put it in the same category with Blair Witch. Either you liked it or you hated it. He wants to go see it again, and see if there's anything he may have missed. He thinks its one of those movies that if you see it more than once, you'll keep noticing things in the back ground, or off in a corner that you missed the first go around.

Blair Witches story (to me) wasn't at all interesting, and it had nobody actors who couldn't act at ALL.
I've thought about going back as well for a second round. Maybe Sunday morning again which is when I went yesterday. Hardly anybody in the theater which is how I like it.

All he meant when comparing the two was that with both movies you'll either love it or hate it. There's really no in-between.

My son went to see this movie last night. He really liked it, but said it was a bit confusing. He wants to see it again because of things he might have missed. He also said the special effects were awesome!
