TMZ has learned that Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger has died in NY.
He was found dead in his bed in one of his residences in Soho by his housekeeper at 3:35 PM ET today. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they believe it was not a crime.
The 28-year-old actor has a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams. He was set to play the Joker in the upcoming Batman film "The Dark Knight." (http://www.tmz.com/2008/01/22/heath-ledger-is-dead/#comments)

Sad. 28, promising career, and dead.

OH that's so awful.
Brad Renfroe died a few weeks ago too...very sad. He was only 25. He was in The Client, Sleepers, and some other films...but was very talented.

I hate seeing a life with so much promise wasted. I never heard drugs or suicidal tendencies attached to his reputation. Sad for everyone involved.

Law enforcement has confirmed to TMZ prescription pills were strewn around Heath Ledger's bed. The cops are waiting for the medical examiner.
Will people ever learn????

From what I understand, he and his ex-fiancee worked really hard at maintaining their privacy. Unlike some celebs, they seemed to want to keep their private life just that way...private.

OMG. How very, very sad. His little girl is only about 2 years-old, I think. He's the second actor to die this week of an apparent drug overdose. They say it happens in threes. Let's hope that isn't the case.

A highly credible source connected to Heath Ledger tells TMZ the apartment where the actor was found was not owned by Mary-Kate Olsen or related to her in any way.

It is also sad to lose another young talented person....

And Nancy Grace devoted the first 30 minutes of her program to the story.
Let's see how much time Larry King and Greta Van Susteren devote to the story tonight on their respective shows.

True.
Oh! And let us not forget! Brittany Spears finally testified today. She'll probably get the other 30 minutes of their shows.

The saddest part is that the news personnel only speak about topics that will raise their ratings... Showing that the majority of the American public is more concerned with psycho celebrity antics than with our fallen soldiers and the sacrifices that they have made...

I feel the same way. It's sad that true artists are lumped into groups with the likes of B.Spears, etc... Our artists help define our culture, so I always feel sad to lose one.
Our soldiers help preserve our culture...and deserve more respect and recognition (and media time) than they get...by about a million times.
Talented, smart, brave, dedicated lives...it's a tragedy to lose any of them.

Heath was a great actor I'd seen a couple of his movies he really fit his roles. The movie "10 things I hate about you" now that was A classic.

well, I stand corrected. doesn't sound like illegal drugs. But is does sound like he O.D.ed on legal ones or had a reaction to them. Happened to me, remember? Too damn many doctors prescribing drugs. But I had to list all my drugs when I went to the doctors. Ambien is being tossed around now. He was having trouble sleeping because of the evilness of The Joker he was playing in Batman. Wow. That's getting into a part, huh?

I've had to hunt overnight to find out what's happening in the world because all I've seen on TV is about HL's death.
I'm sorry, good actor, bad actor, young folks with way too much money and notoriety sometimes meet untimely ends - - sad but true. Let's not go overboard and think that his death is the only thing to be hashed out for 24 straight hours on the news and talk shows.
Hmmm, gives em something other than the good things coming out of Iraq to report on (wait,,,,,,, they don't report the good things out of Iraq anyway).....

You aren't hearing about the soldiers, Baloo, because the "surge" is working and the Left media doesn't want to highlight that. Isn't THAT sad. Our own newspapers cheer when we're losing and zip their lips when we are winning. It makes me want to puke.

Death ruled accidental overdose (http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=299163>1=7701)So he accidentally took too much of 6 different kinds of drugs?
Right.
I accidentally dropped a wrench on my foot the other day. Once. If I did it six times, I don't think that's classified as an accident.

Did the report say that all 6 medications were found in his system, or that he had scrips for 6 different meds?

Did the report say that all 6 medications were found in his system, or that he had scrips for 6 different meds?I read it as all six were found, because it said that the combinations were probably what killed him. They wouldn't disclose the levels of each of the drugs found in his system.

Forgive me for quoting myself. But it adds spice to the conversation.:kekeke: Anybody watching those morally bankrupt, lying bastards on fox last night? Had a female demoncrat on there. One of the repugnican females made reference to the "surge" working, in some context to the election. This demoncrat, proceeded to REDEFINE "surge" in order to say it was not working. Talk about the most obvious, lame embarrassingly sad, attempt at spin!! Watch your favorite news shows folks. The Demoncrats will be using that to beat back the surge success in the coming elections. I think Billy the Cigar, Clinton taught them that during his grand jury investigation. Depends on what your definition of is, is. I'm telling you. It was jaw dropping good.

Good Lord!! I'd bet my last confederate nickel that he was hooked. Hydrocodone is Lortab. I take Hydrocodone for pain and Lexapro for depression. But I damn sure don't mix it with Nyquil much less powerful prescription drugs like Oxycoton, Xanax, etc. He was druggin'.:smt023

You should always take your drugs one at a time, they last longer that way.

I guess my biggest question if I was a family member is did the same doctor prescribe all these medications to him? Or did he go to different doctors to get different types. Because if you look at all the drugs he took, no doctor worth his salt would have prescribed all these at one time. Talking about a ticking time-bomb. Some of these drugs are in the same classification so it is way over-kill. Or in this instance, a guaranteed kill. Regardless, it is a shame someone with his kind of talent died in such a horrible, needless way.

Now that is an awful thing to say! Are you really happy that someones son, brother, father, is dead? Any number of people can be taking several types of medications at the same time, it does not make them a "druggie". A post like that seems rather strange coming from a self proclaimed christian. Just dosen't seem very christ-like to me:smt009

Oh, now we have to meet your standards of "Christian". Odd how people with this attitude raise the bar on you. Particularly non-Christians. But then Christians tend to be the first to look down their nose at others they feel are less Christian and point it out. Tell it to the Lord. He'll be the one who judges me last, when it counts most, but I'll warn you, we are tight. I think He loves me for my imperfections and yet knows how hard I try. Did you read my first post on this? I have, what I consider a good reason for feeling the way I do. But you are certainly entitled to judge me unless you are a Christian. Then you have as much a problem as you think I do.;)

We can hope some good will come from it. Maybe someone will say, "Hey, wait a minute. Was it worth dying for?" And a life is saved. My point to patty was, the only way we can hope to get a handle on misuse of drugs and use of illegal drugs is for enough bad things happen to enough famous people or close friends to wake somebody up to the dangers. I see no other way of saving our children. I don't. Why do I not do drugs? Because I'm scared spitless of getting hooked, then misusing and dying. Otherwise, I'd just right in on the feel good stuff. Why do people choose not to smoke or quit if they are smoking? They've gotten the message that it will kill you. Why? Because people are dying with lung cancer, oral cancer all around them.
