HPD swears in 125th officer (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080128/NEWS01/80128018)

It's just a short article, but what a difference a short amount of time makes. It was about this time last year that we were talking about how very few officers that HPD had, how unsafe our city was simply because there weren't enough officers to cover the city.

I know that the puppy and I can't make a circuit of our neighborhood without seeing a HPD car at least once. It's good to know that the staffing levels are back up to where they should be.

Yes, and the best part is they are still hiring...they have several more vacancies to fill to get up to the new numbers they are shooting for! :smt023
I also see alot more units out and about in my neighborhood...

Yeah, what a difference! Our East Hardy neighborhood changed dramatically within weeks of Mizenhelter's ascension. Drug raids started the first weekend and the police presence noticably picked up. We used to see drug deals everywhere, all the time. Now, nearly nothing. The hookers have gone away, or at least gone into hiding.

It's kinda boring over here lately. We don't even get the cute little Oak Grove chicks looking for their weekend supply anymore.

Congrats to Darin McCreary. I used to work with him several years ago. I think he will be a nice addition to HPD.
