I made the mistake of going to the Chili's in W. Hattiesburg Sunday night. It's a safe bet that will never happen again.

It was around 10:30. The place was mostly empty. Only us and around 15-20 gangsta wanna-bes. Either Vice Lords or Bloods, judging by their choice of lingo.

Our server was this dingy, good-for-nothing who spent the majority of her time attention-whoring with the group of afore mentioned hooks.

An hour and a half after we ordered, our glasses long having gone dry, our stomachs having abandoned the idea of being fed, we stop the little dink as she bounces back to her group. I elected to bite my tongue, because I would have been far more blunt than my company.

"Oh!!!!!! I'm sorry! I'll go check on your order!"

Well, that's thoughtful of you. So sorry we had to interrupt your ass shaking for something as petty as the order we placed 90 damn minutes ago.

"They just started cooking it."

*blank stare*

Needless to say, my tongue slipped from between my teeth for a moment.

Her manager come rushing to the table. Probably the most cleavage I've seen on a restaurant manager. Not that she was overly well endowed, but her top was both low cut and loose fitting. She knelt at our table and leaned forward, presenting basically all of her assets. Had she made the mistake of asking if there was anything she could do to make it up to us, I think I would have gotten myself in trouble.

The server actually thought we might pay for our drinks. That would have been a really fun conversation.

In any event, is this indicative of just how far downhill Chili's has fallen? Not that it matters. Their food isn't that much better than Waffle House anyway.

Gross, You know, the same thing happened to Cucos for a while. I don't know if it is still that way b/c I never went back.

he is the area director.

As I've said before, you're wasting your time to go to Chili's to eat. Go for the drinks and you just gotta hope and prayer they actually pay attention to your table.

The two-for one is usually ice cold. I don't really care much for the food either.

I would agree that the drinks are the best thing they have and prob is the only reason they stay open. College kids love 2 for 1! I know I did back then

We went to Chilis Saturday afternoon. It was ok but for the price we paid it should have been excellent. With a family of 5 we can never leave Chilis without spending around $70 :-(
I wonder if the manager on duty is the girl I know. She is a previous employer where I work. Kinda loony and not management material at all!!

You'll find that on certain nights, Chili's has turned into a gang-banger hangout. And before anyone accuses me of stereotyping, I don't mean folks that look like I think gang members look like, I mean people that I have dealt with and know are most definetly bangers. I hate it because the wife loves the southwestern eggrolls and I dig the cajun chicken sandwich.

I've had bad experiences at Chili's, I've even had managers say very offensive things to me, but I have eat out a lot in Hattiesburg, and overall, Chili's is probably one of the better chains here. You just can't expect every waiter/waitress to be having a good night, every time you go. People have bad days, things get screwed up.

I like chillis.. The 2 for 1 isnt worth it 2-- 8 oz beers for 5.00 isn't a good deal. :smt105

I would have enjoyed the 2-4-1s had the dink come out of her circle jerk long enough to take another order.

Servers have bad nights. I can dig that. Truth be told, I have a tendency to tip a struggling waitress pretty well if I see she's putting in an honest effort but just can't get in the groove for whatever reason. This little so & so was far too busy letting the world know she was down for a night with the boys to be bothered by her job.

I guess we could have been easy to forget had we been across the room. We were in the same section, not 20 feet from her near-orgy.

10 years ago, I would have probably beaned her with a piece of ice. Now, I'm just content knowing she'll be on the Bypass in a year or so.

I know what you mean......BUT, let me tell you about a good alternative....CHILI's in Petal.....SSSOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER! I have been there 3 times since they opened----will NEVER go back to the one in Hattiesburg. I have recommended it to my co-workers in Hattiesburg, and 2 or 3 have tried it....they were impressed, too. And, depending on where you live in Hattiesburg, hitting I-59 to The GANDY PARKWAY (U.S. 42 East) gets you to Petal in a shake.

I live in Petal. I just happened to be in W. Hattiesburg at the time and the major eateries were closed.

I've read mixed reviews about the Petal Chili's. I guess that's to be expected since it's new. Same could be said about the Wagon Wheel steakhouse. It got butchered when it first opened. Now, I've been told it's the best available. I guess it just depends on whether or not you get lucky. Seems like at restaurant prices, luck shouldn't have much to do with things.

They take forever for the food to get to your table.

I honestly can't figure out why in the world people like Chili's at all. Not my idea of good or quality food at all. Mediocre, if not downright gross at times. :smt001 Just my humble opinion.

I was there with a large group a few weeks ago. I have a few things to say about it.

1. We reserved space for 30 people. They gave us space for about 15.
2. They gave us a waitress who was responsible for the entire section-- our table(s) of 30 as well as about 5 surrounding tables of 2-4 each.
3. If you ordered a drink, you got it about 30 minutes later and only after having to remind the girl a couple of times.
4. They brought the wrong food out --and not just to one or two people, but to almost everyone at our table.
5. The chips were STALE. And not just slightly, but really, really stale.
6. The waitress copped a 'tude when someone asked about a forgotten drink order.

I haven't tried it. Probably never will.
The overall consensus is that it's not worth the bother.
A coworker summed it up - "Cute name but it's just another bar that has to serve food to get a liquor license."

Tonight my wife and a friend went to Chili's in Petal. Yea I know big mistake. After sitting down and giving their order, after waiting an hour their food finally arrived. They had placed a to go order also with their orders. When it came out...guess what? It was wrong. Needless to say we're not impressed with them.

I used to eat at Chili's frequently as I work nearby. There is someone who works with me part time who also works there part time, whom I was talking about that place with.

Their busiest time is from noon till about 4pm, after that they have a noticable drop-off in business. They have their best servers and cooks working during that time. They are hiring and are always hiring for the night shifts, as no one really wants to work those shifts ( waitresses ) as the tips generaly aren't as good ( cause of the clients in there at the time ). Logans and TGI Fridays, and the Chili's in Petal has put a hurt on their business in the late afternoons. And they pay like crap compared to the other restaraunts.

Speaking of pay, I was told that Taco Bell across from Wesley Medical pays $10 an hour.

Say wuh?

Well, now I know where my part time/weekend job should be.
